Default Chinchilla sand

I am not sure if this is a the right section to be asking about chinchilla sand, so if I am in the wrong bit I apologise!
So, I want to get some chinchilla sand for my hamster but I am not sure what brands are good/ safe. When I went to pets at home I tried to ask them for it and they looked at me like I had gone mad and tried to give me potty litter and then chinchilla dust but I know dust isn't good for hamsters.
Any good brand recommendations? Thanks!

I use that one too! Our P@H do sell it, but only in the past few months, so it may be that not all stores have it in stock. Before that I was buying it as an add-on item with Amazon orders, was about £2.60 a box so I'd get 2-3 at a time.

I personally use sterilized aquarium sand as I always have an abundance of it, but that brand is definitely high quality and much better than most other types of sand! A close friend of mine uses it with her hamsters and they seem to love it so I'd assume it's very good quality

It would depend on the sand.If made from the same exact type as play sand it could work, but never something with additives or dyes or from an unsafe source. It isn't going to be as cheap though, and it would be very difficult to find high quality safe sand Children's play sand or chinchilla sand would definitely be a better option.

I use Tiny Friends Farm bathing sand or Vitakraft "Chinchilla Sandy" for Pip, this is identical to TFF and it is cheaper too, I get it from our branch of the Range.

I like Witte Molen Chinchilla sand, but I have to order it online so sometimes I buy the Vitakraft one on my town's pet shop, this last one does the trick but I like better the Witte Molen one because the Vitakraft is dustier

I have the tiny friends one too. Khaleesi likes to decorate my living room with it as it goes everywhere. Keeping it in the food container is the challenge

I also get the Tiny Friends Farm Bathing sand. Last few times I've been into p@h to get another box, it had been moved to another place different to where it was the previous time - the last time it was next to the hamster bedding and when I have asked a member of staff they pointed me to the chinchilla dust until I said no the one in the box which is also for hamsters - which then they showed me to the right one! You could also order it online and collect it in store which may be a little easier.
