Khaleesi's 2nd cage - the playden
Hey guys,
I picked up another cage for Khaleesi to roam around in, so she will have the use of 2 cages linked up together by tubes.
This is a pic of her new playden. Just getting the layout sorted before i clean everything then add the substrate. Its not too busy is it?
Ive got a little terracotta pot at the back behind the hanging house, which I'll put some sand in for her to use as a potty hopefully. Ive just picked up the tiny farm friends bathing sand. Will that be ok for her?

That sand is fine, it's what most of us use.

That's nice for Khaleesi to have such a wonderful owner to take the time for her the way you do

Re: Khaleesi's 2nd cage - the playden
Thanks guys. Cinnamon, she doesnt seem to appreciate it at the mo haha. Had my first bite from her last week, right under the nail which throbbed for a few days. But it was my fault, I made the rookie error of feeding her a treat then not washing my hands, so I dont blame her. She seems to be a bit friendlier since then (maybe she wants more blood haha) like she was in the first few days after I got her, before the naughty washing machine scared her. Ive been giving her some space, both figuratively and now literally, so hoping to introduce her to my hand this week. She is taking treats with my hand in the cage, so going to try and get her to walk onto my hand for the treat. And I'll have to stand and take any more bites i get haha

Hope she likes it. The wooden ladder may be hard to climb and she may go through the gaps and get hurt or stuck. A solid ladder/ramp would be better. You could put a solid back on the ladder you have, just in case.

Re: Khaleesi's 2nd cage - the playden
Yeah i was thinking that about the ladders. I will get some lollypop sticks and glue a back on. They are there just so its makes it a bit easier for her to get up to the wooden food ledge. Maybe I could try propping the wooden sticks against the side and see if she will climb up that way. She isnt in there yet anyway. She is being stubborn and refusing to get into the ball I've put in her other cage,so she can roll around while i connect the cages up before the grand opening of the playden.
Here it is all set up. Minus the hamster, who is looking in from her current cage but doesnt want to get in the damn ball haha.

You could use the bendy bridge instead of the ladder. But it looks fun. Hope she doesn't chew the cube nest, as it looks nice and snugly.

Haha she probably will chew it. Bit this one is just a tester, I got it cheap because its sewn wonky (hammy cant tell). So if she likes it and uses it I'll get her a smaller one. I have a cheap mini hammock on the way too, but I have a feeling hamsters dont use hammocks
