Found out why there doesn't seem to be any Syrian hamsters here in Valencia! I went into Kiwoko store today (as recommended by Hamsterita) and there they were..... described as coming from SIBERIA.
Right Latin name, right discoverer, right sizing etc..... WRONG COUNTRY ENTIRELY.
I pointed this out to the young lady on the till, who told me she knew nothing about it, she just puts the tickets on the cages that come from Head Office. Grrrrrrr.
So I'm now sitting in my car outside the shop, having sent an email to Head Office.

I have a white Kaytee hamster cage sitting in the middle of the Living World deluxe rabbit cage. The Kaytee cage is open and Chloe runs back and forth between the two. The bottom tray of the rabbit cage is too high for a dwarf hamster to climb out of it. She would definitely fit through the bars of the rabbit cage if she could reach them. Both cages have toys, food and water, but Chloe appears to prefer the smaller cage because she spends more time there. She sleeps in the Kaytee cage and I have never seen her sleep in the bigger cage. I refer to the Kaytee cage as her house and the Living World cage as her garden.

What type of hamster do you have? A Syrian would definitely be able to reach the bars.
