Default Which bedding?

So recently I've decided that it would be good for Doris to have some bedding that is better to burrow in, at the moment she has aspen in her cage, and it's quite expensive yet its the only one I could find in my local pet store. I've been looking at fitch and hemp bedding. I was close to ordering some megazorb but I read reviews that it was dusty.

This bedding from zooplus looks quite good Nests & Nesting Materials at zooplus: Hemp Bedding

My cage is 95 x 55 x 49 cm so that's the space I have to fill, Doris is definitely a digger so it would be great to have a good 8+ inches if possible.

Does anyone have these beddings? It would be very helpful if you could tell me what its like or if there is anything else you have to recommend please do!

I have fitch and so do many others on HC. Highly recommended. if you have the storage space the 20kg bag is good value. I use it as the substrate and in Mocho's house. In addition I leave torn up strips of plain white toilet paper outside the house for him to gather up and take inside to weave into his nest. Very cosy combination.

I use fitch and it's great. Abe loves burrowing in it. I wouldn't recommend Megazorb, it is great for everything, it'd be my favourite bedding if it wasn't so dusty.

I'd recommend you get fitch, it's nice and soft, isn't dusty and is fairly good at absorbing urine and keeping out smell.

I've just switched over to Fitch and it's pretty good. It's a lot like Carefresh, but far cheaper! It seems to be quite good at holding tunnels too - Inky has it in her digging box, where she chooses to sleep.

Do be aware, however, that the bag is quite big. The one thing I regret is my attempt to store something the size of a grown man in the foetal position in my tiny London flat which was never overly blessed with storage space, a situation the Fitch has not improved...

I've found that Snowflake woodshavings mixed with Carefresh has been the best for burrowing - the woodshavings are cost effective and helps make the Carefresh go further so you can fill the cages nice & deep, and the combo is really good for holding tunnels. Soft & comfortable and really good for odour control too.

I intend to try Fitch when I go back up to two hams again though.

I've just switched to Fitch and my hamsters love it! Marcello's been burrowing in it all day.

I'd definitely go with fitch, it's soft, not very dusty, and comes in bulk. There's other options but fitch definitely tends to be the best.

I'd go for Fitch too, it's soft and can hold burrows really well, is cheap, comes in bulk (which can be a pro & a con!) and has great odour control. I've tried Megazorb but disliked it just because of the amount of dust in it. Hemp is quite spiky so I'd say your best bet is Fitch.

I use a mixture of Fitch, lovely & soft, absorbent & dust free, with the Hugro hemp from zooplus, also very low in dust & absorbent.
I find the two gives a more interesting texture for the hams & makes for better burrowing & they seem to enjoy it, I do keep mostly Fitch around the nesting/house area as it's so lovely & soft for them.
I have also used the hemparade hemp from zooplus but found it to have sharper pieces & be a bit more dusty, although more expensive I would say that the Hugro brand if better quality for hams.
