Default Re: Ideas needed for a bin cage

To keep my hams interest in their enclosure, I try to add different materials for them to play on, rest on, or chew on. I add things like tile, sea grass hammocks/mats, large wooden toys, and other such items. I find all of which they tend to enjoy playing on and around. I too also recommend the sand bath, especially for dwarf hamsters (I've never owned one but heard that they tend to enjoy it a lot). Adding a smooth pile of stones, or a tunnel of loofah could be good to help your little one enjoy their bin more, and you to enjoy customizing!

I like Velma's idea. Larry-Jasper loves his extendable tubes, easily one of his favourites. Here is a link to one. This is a slightly different one that is a bit cheaper. Final type of tube lol.

Poundland bendy bridges would work well to hold bedding, depending on how deep you want it. Rabbit bendy bridges would work if you want a foot of bedding in one area. This would work well for a short amount of extra bedding. I keep this around Jasper's wheel.

I have the bird bath that Cypher suggested. I attach it to the bars when Jasper is is his travel cage, otherwise it just goes on the substrate.

Right I'm gonna add a few more links to some more tunnels and toys that either Jasper has or just look good.

I like the look of this, but I'm not sure how good it is.

Jasper loves this see saw.

Jasper also has this bridge which he likes.

I've heard that this is good quality and will give Jessie someting to climb.

A sputnik might be a nice idea for climbing and to hang and will be harder to destroy than a hammock.

Another one of Jasper's favourites. Easy to store, easy to climb and excellent quality.

Excellent for putting treats in and to use as a lever to climb up to something.

I love this tunnel for Larry-Jasper.

You can't go wrong with a puzzle playground! They are so good for climbing and hiding .

I think Matthew or Victoria had one of these, but I can't remember.

These are the Lava Ledges that Cypher suggested.

Hope this helps Jessie

Thank you everyone for your suggestions, I'll definitely be looking at implementing some of them.

I've already put in an order with my sister to pick me up some of the wooden magazine folders next time she goes to the Ikea in Southampton so will be building a new one for Jessie as well as one for Matthew.

James has that curved bridge that you linked to Chesca and he really likes it. He sits under there with his Whimzees chew sometimes. He's also got this one: http://www.petsathome.com/shop/en/pe...e=45&orderBy=1 that you linked to and it's another popular toy with him, I don't know why I've not thought to buy more.

Matthew and Victoria have the rainbow bridges but the shop only had one in stock when I bought Victoria's new one. I'll have to pop in sometime and get a few more I think as it went down quite well with The Nobrias when they were young, I didn't have the heart to take it off of Matthew to give it back to Vicky when the pups were rehomed.

I'll be sure to post some more pictures when I've experimented with some of the ideas.
