Re: Setting up my Alexander cage
Thanks SKB! She's had another play in it tonight, I'd like her to get to know the layout before she moves in, and also I like to see how she uses the space in case anything doesn't work.
Ha ha I think you could be right CMB she usually likes to pee in the most inaccessible place, and this would be the hardest area for me to clean without taking the top of the cage off! So I think a potty here would be a good idea.
Thanks chesca! Hopefully I can get some more painting done on Saturday!
Well, I was changing my duvet this evening and Marty got up to see what I was doing, so I popped her in the new cage and she spent what looked like a happy 40 minutes exploring. She's been in and out the houses and tubes, up and down the ramp, had a good look at everything, and moved some of thr Fitch around, as apparently I hadn't put it in the right place!
A temporary ramp up to the door...
I'll put more Fitch in, but wanted to leave some room so I can put some of her old stuff in.
Every space has been explored...
"I just need to check this wheel!"
"OK, let's go up a gear..."
"It's working Mum!"
As she had such a good run round, I have decided to count this as play time (seeing as play time often consists of me sitting on the floor for an hour while she decides if she is coming out or not).
Maybe if she plays in there again tomorrow, I will hide some food around the cage.

Re: Setting up my Alexander cage
These are such great photos of Marty exploring the cage - making sure everything meets her expectations so cute that she had to rearrange the Fitch. The photos of her trying out her wheel are so cute. Definitely looks like she approves so far.

Re: Setting up my Alexander cage
The cage is looking great & those are lovely photos of Marty exploring, she seems to be enjoying herself & giving the seal of approval as well as making just slight improvements on her Mums hard work!

I gasped when I saw those photos of her. She really is a shining beauty.
Sounds like she had a great play time. Bless her.

OMG you're building her a hamster palace.
Everything looks amazing. I love the pringles idea. I have to go to the supermarket asap and buy a pringles' tube.

Re: Setting up my Alexander cage
I'm really inspired by your sisal string covered Pringle tube tunnels - especially as I have just finished some Pringles and I was wondering what is the best way to attach sisal string to the tube?

Re: Setting up my Alexander cage
Great set up for Marty and I love that last photo especially. I have spare sisal string and will have empty Pringle tubes in a few days so I am interested in what SKB asks.
