Hello everyone!!
We currently own two beautiful female Syrian hamsters (they live in seperate cages.) We've had them for just over a month and feel we should provide them with better cages. One lives in the popular Alaska cage, and the other lives in the Grosvenor Rat and Hamster cage. Both cages seem to be too small for them and are fairly tricky to clean, as the bars don't quite fit the base tray in width/length, leaving small gaps, and the hooks which are designed to pull the sides of the cage together frequently slide apart, leaving small gaps. We were forced to use cable ties on one of the cages, as one night, one of our hamsters tried to escape through one of the gaps, but became stuck and was strangled by the bars until we rescued her.
We've heard other people complain about the quality of the Alaska cage, particularly the bars.
We are looking to replace their current cages with the Alexander cage, but would like someone who owns the Alexander cage to list some pros and cons. Is it easy to clean? Is it easy to take apart and put back together? Are there any gaps?
