Thankyou. I would like the silent runner but space may be an issue here. I can't find a measuring tape at the moment but from what I remember a ruler is 30 cm so i think it would need to go on the floor. If the width is 20 cm what is the depth of the wheel?. I presume the bottom could be covered with carefresh. At the moment I have a log house from petplanet which is quite large (it has a slide and ladder attached to it) and a living world water bottle which also has a large round Base. That takes up half the cage. The other half is filled up with carefresh with the wheel and tunnel on top. In that case maybe the silent spinner would be a good alternative?

The wheel is 2.5" wide without including the stand, but that wouldn't add too much extra width. The stand could easily be buried though

The stand can't actually be easily buried, there is quite a small gap between the stand base & the bottom of the wheel so it needs to be kept fairly clear of substrate to work properly.

It seems I really need to measure the cage. I would really love this wheel but have to work out how to rearrange it so it can go in. I may be able to put it at the back next to the house out of interest my sister who has a robo advised me to leave a space around the edge as they like to run around the edge of the cage is this correct as everything is moved forward so she can do that although I have only seen her do this once ot twice (although she may be doing this while I'm asleep.)

I don't think they need space around the edge of the cage, it may just be an individual thing but I tend to keep things around the edges with a little more space in the middle of the cage, it seems to suit my hams & me as it makes interaction a bit easier.

Definitely measure up!
TBH though rather than try to work everything else around a big wheel you might do bettet to stick to something like the P@H silent sipinner type wheel with the metal staand you can also get from there as the plastic stand isn't very stable apparently.
That's perfectly adequate for a robo really.

There are other brands which make spinet spinner type wheels if you look online but I haven't tried any others but the kaytee/superpet or p@h own brand so I couldn't tell you what the quality is like of them. A friend has a different brand again and it looks fine when I've seen it but I don't know where she got it or who makes it.

Well I'm hoping I can arrange it so that I can get the silent spinner in if I can't find a measuring tape tomorrow I will buy one but it is worth knowing about other brands incase I can't put one in. I'm hoping the oil has worked which will give me a bit more time to find a suitable replacement.

Hi again just an update on what's happened. Last night Rosie was merrily running on her wheel and the squeak was still there! After 3 hours of this I gave it up NEEDED sleep! So I reluctantly took her wheel out. I felt very bad about this as she so loves her wheel and so offered her a treat as I did this is put my hand on the carefresh and it squeaked! I started touching things to find out what it was,the water bottles (I hoped it wasn't that) the tunnel and last of all the house. Turned out to be the slide! This is attached by 2 hook and eyes so I removed this and tried again and there was silence! I was so happy. I put her wheel back in (Rosie was on it very quickly) and it was silent, peace at last! So now I have a nice quiet hamster. So looking forward to that. I have still measured up for the silent runner and it's not going to take up as much room as I thought so will need ordering one in the next few days. All I have to do now is either find another slide for her house or a way of not preventing it from squeaking. I put Rosie seems treats on the house so she does go up there. She usually launches herself from the carefresh (which is level with the platform) and slides down it afterwards.

You could always try a bendy bridge instead of a plastic ramp!

You can uses a bendy bridge as a ramp, as amityville suggested, just be careful there are no gaps for feet to get caught. I've used a hide and seek cube before now as a step. Mine is from p@h but other places make/sell them just maybe with different names. Or you could probably even use some stiff cardboard as a temporary measure. Or get a thin piece of pet safe wood and glue lolly sticks to it for treads if you're feeling crafty.
