Sunflower oil should be fine, try to only use a tiny bit.
As long as it isn't getting knocked over with her digging then the wheel should work fine on the substrate.
A medium flying saucer should be fine for a robo if you do need to use that.

Have you got a silent spinner as I know there is a way to fix it

Is the silent spinner the same as a flying saucer as that's what I have. Rosie does tend to tunnel under the saucer usually with an entrance right underneath the rim! This does make the saucer sink but I do sort it out when this happens and unfortunately this doesn't seem to stop it squeaking. Has anyone one had both the silent runner and the flying saucer? Which do you think is better for robos? I thought it was a good point about weeing on the saucer Rosie does do that a fair bit. I take it the oil goes on the white part under the saucer?

The silent spinner is an upright wheel not the same as a flying saucer, if you have a saucer try just putting a drop of oil on the metal part, I've never had a saucer that squeaked tbh so I'm not entirely sure if that will fix it or if it may just be a faulty saucer.
Most robos pee in the wheel btw, it's totally normal for them but don't over clean it as it just makes them do it more!
There's a discussion on the best wheels for robos here that might help if you do need to get a new one.

ETA If you're a bit confused about wheels have a look at this thread which will give you a good idea of which ones are suitable & you can see what the different wheels look like.

There doesn't appear to be any metal parts on the flying saucer but I will put it where the Base goes into the bottom of the cylinder that goes into the wheel. Thanks for the info on hamster wheels I hadn't noticed it above I would like to go for the silent runner but at £22.99 (plus postage)I need to know it's really good and the pros and cons on it.

The only real con I see is the price, but it's definitely worth the price Pros are that it is very lightweight, easy to put together after the first time, very durable despite being lightweight, and also the safest wheel on the market due to having a solid stand, solid running surface, front panel to keep hamsters from flying off which may also make hamsters feel more secure on the wheel, and also it lacks a spindle which is extremely important for some hamsters.

Honestly the price isn't even a huge con with how high quality a wheel it is,but other than that as long as you're not picky with colors there really aren't any cons

You must have a different saucer to mine, mine are all old now so the design has probably changed a bit but I would say just put some oil onto the bit the saucer part sits on & with any luck it will get where it's needed.

The silent runner is a lot of money I know, I have three now

It is very well made, I've had almost every wheel there is over the years & of the plastic wheels it really is the best, no noise at all except the patter of little feet, very stable but not too heavy, no spindle which can be a problem with some hams so it really is totally safe, it can be a bit stiff when you first put it together but after that it's very quick & easy which is probably more important with dwarf hams as they do tend to need cleaning more often than syrians!
I can't see anything wearing out or getting noisy with time so it's a good investment if you can stretch to it.
I can't think of any downsides to it at all really.

ETA Actually after thinking about it there is a bit of a downside & that is size, great for the hams but being that bit bigger than most dwarf wheels it does take need a fair bit of space, well height really, so you do need to check it actually fits into the cage or you can find a way to make it fit before getting one, in two of my cages I've fenced off part of the cage so the substrate is quite a lot shallower than the rest of the cage just so it fits in.

Well it certainly sounds good. I just wondered does it need to be on a flat surface? The flying saucer doesn't need to be. If it does how much room do you need (it seems to have a wide Base. If it doesn't what is the total height with Base? I have a zoozone one and will need to reorganise Rosie cage. Thanks

I just measured one of mine & the base is 20cm wide, the total height is 26cm.

I have two silent spinners - an original one and a p@h. My original silent spinner is good because it is from before the redesign that means they a now seem to be too stiff to turn freely. More recent ones have a problem. The p@h One is fine. I personally don't think it's quite as good as my original one but it's not far off. The only thing I don't really like on it is the plastic stand but you can buy metal stands that fit (I think from kaytee. It's the same stand as the comfort wheel) or it fits the stand off a "proper" silent spinner if you have your old one that was too stiff. I just found with my super speedy Hector that he ran too fast and pulled the wheel over on the plastic stand. They're not very expensive and the medium(I think) is about 6.5" which is fine for a robo. I like the look of the silent runner a lot but if you need something smaller for the cage or cheaper to pick something up now you could do a lot worse than that. Mine was silent apart from the pitter patter of mega quick feet!
