Not sure how well it would work, but if any liquid got to the outside it would have to be thrown away.Since it has bark on the outside,it makes it impossible to thoroughly clean it and if any urine(or other liquid)soaks in it will be impossible to keep.Because of the bark you also can't seal it on the outside, which makes it even worse.A labyrinth house without bark would be much better, since it could be fully sealed and would probably last longer.

I know some people have used that house for syrians but it is a bit small, I've had two russian boys use one & it only just seemed big enough for them really.

Lots of people have used that house I did send for it for Charlie in the early days and only sent it back because it had woodworm holes in! So I now freeze any bark wood items before use. At the time I didn't know Charlie was going to grow so big though. It is a bit small for a Syrian as the entrance holes are only about 5cm diameter, but might be ok for a small syrian. Most people knock out the solid floor that is in one section, so it doesn't get pee-stained, and then it is open to the substrate underneath. Some people also knock out the centre divider so the compartments aren't so small, but it depends how small the compartment is - some hams like nesting in a cosy small section. The only other comment I would have about it is, like a lot of the bark wood houses, it is made with nails, so you would need to check carefully that no nails are protruding and also watch it carefully for any chewing.

Rodipet make good labyrinth houses but they are a bit expensive - this one is a similar size to the Leif house and has bigger entrance doors of 7cm diameter.

https://www.rodipet.de/shop/haeuser/...x28cm-7cm.html

But it converts to about £23 plus £7 postage so it's a bit expensive. If you check out Ennerham's thread on Speedy, she made one out of two tissue boxes and a piece of cardboard

If Percy is a small Syrian the Leif house might be fine! Quite a few people on the Amazon reviews seem to have used them for Syrians.

You could plastikote the inside, just in case your hamster pees in it.

Even if the inside was plastikoted the outside would still be vulnerable and nothing could fix that

The only problem I had with the outside was that it's a bit of a pain getting little seeds & bits of food out of the cracks in the bark! With two hams living their whole lives in one (not at the same time!) I didn't have any problems, I didn't even plastikote inside but I was lucky as both used litter trays from day one, if I was to use one again I'd plastikote inside though.
The only thing I really don't like it is the very small space under the ramp is a good place for nervous new hams to hide where you can't get to them, even though I prefer the German labyrinth houses that was the only fault with this one really, for dwarf hams anyway.

I have been wanting a labyrinth for a while now but it's pretty darn expensive!
Percy is a very polite ham, she only pee's in her sand! I would probably remove the floor, though.
She has a 'labyrinth' house made of two shoe boxes and pieces of cardboard, but she chews it to shreds. She only will chew cardboard and whimzies
I'll wait and see. I won't be buying it any time soon though!
