Default Stacking cages

Is there a way to stack cages which don't have a flat roof? Something I can put between the cages maybe to lift the top one clear?

Looking to stack a Savic Ruffy on top of an Alaska if possible.

Maybe it's just me being silly, but why wouldn't you be able to stack them?

If there is some reason you can't, then maybe put them in a shelving unit? A bit expensive if you don't have them already but effective

I was wondering that. Because the Alaska has a front opening door, you wouldn't need access to the top really and the Ruffy could sit on top. Unless maybe you think the weight would be too much for the Alaska. I haven't had an Alaska so I don't know how strong they are. It would probably ok with a bigger cage on top (where the base went over the edges of the Alaska) but I guess the Ruffy base could be slightly smaller and all the weight would be on the top bars and not supported by the edges - is that what you mean?

I think some people have a low shelf unit or one of those tv units can be good too - for stacking cages on. Or just a small table, if it's high enough - with the Alaska underneath and the Ruffy on top (I think the Ruffy only has a top opening door, is that right?)

Something like this lack table (it's cheap!) with the Alaska underneath and the Ruffy on top. As the Ruffy only has top opening.

LINNMON / ADILS Table - white - IKEA

You could just put a piece of wood on top of the Alaska - so it went over the edges of the cage and made a sturdier support - but then you'd have to dismantle things occasionally for cage cleans etc.

Sorry I wasn't clear, looking at the pictures of the Alaska, the top door means the clasp bit is raised. Same on the ruffy but that would need to be on top as it doesn't have a front door.

It sounds like you need a table or shelf unit then. That Ikea one is quite cheap.

I used to have a cage stacked on top of an Alaska and know a few people that have too
Most cages have a teeny tiny raise rim on the underside of the cage that accounts for the slight raised door of the alaska. The amount it sticks up really is tiny though

I've just Googled the Savic Ruffy and I can see now it only has a top opening so a problem if you want it on the bottom.

Why don't you put the Alaska on the bottom? It still has a big front opening door

EDIT: Oops just seen the post about the raised Alaska door - sounds like that IKEA table might be your best option then

If you're stacking another cage on top could you remove the top door of the Alaska? I'll have a look at mine in a minute but I don't think it would be difficult

Thanks everyone. Will bear that ikea table in mind but maybe it'll work without. Will have a play when it gets here. Not sure DH is keen about having them both stacked where the ruffy is (living room) so may have to compromise.

I know loads of people who stack other cages on top of Alaskas without any issue, I don't think you'll need a table or shelving unit or anything
