I thought this wasn't supposed to be available in the US???
Today while stumbling into the endless black hole that is the internet,I found something quite interesting indeed! It's not supposed to be available in the US from what I remember, but it's of course not in stock at the moment from this website unfortunately It's a Marchioro Goran!
Marchioro Products Marchioro Goran Rat Cage Small Pet Cages
I'm still a bit confused from this,as I thought it wasn't possible to get one in the US yet suddenly it may be though of course the temporarily out of stock bit makes it harder to work with.
It does seem on the expensive side compared to a 40 gallon breeder or a DIY cage or even a Detolf, but I just couldn't resist checking it out for the novelty of it all

Both the Marchioro Goran and the Marchioro Kevin have been available in the US for a quite a while, but like you mentioned, unless you can find them on sale, they tend to be a little on the expensive side. They're awesome cages!!! I have the Kevin 82 & absolutely love it!!!!

Guess I wasn't looking in the right places for a while It does seem like a great cage though, with the large front door and the size being very good compared to most cages that are available in the US unless you buy a rabbit cage.

They've been harder & harder to find...especially the Kevin. For a while they were available online at That Pet Place and on Amazon. Dr. Foster's and Smith was carrying the Goran. I thought about buying one of them, but the Kevin has smaller bar spacing that is perfect for any species of hamster. I lucked out when a friend was getting rid of hers. All I paid for was shipping!!! It is an awesome cage!!!

Those prices are the best I have seen for any of the Marchioro cages here in the US. Now only if they had them in stock... Foster & Smith have removed these and any cages like them from their site, and the prices on Amazon are faint worthy!
I envoy the UK and European countries for the wonderful cage options they have. Really wish the US companies would start producing better options.

Re: I thought this wasn't supposed to be available in the US???
I wish we had better options too At this point the only reason my DIY cage is costing around 50 dollars is because I am lucky enough to have some already thanks to my dad.Otherwise, that would cost up to 50 dollars more than the Goran,at least from this site.
Foster & Smith seem to be getting less and less of a good store to shop through in my recent experience So far I've had more luck with the less well known shops and local shops finding interesting things, but it's definitely hard in the US to find a cage while other things aren't that hard sometimes.

Heh you lucked out materials for the nice looking dyi's get to be.. well cost prohibitive. I'm kind of wishing I'd just held off materials and gone with the pax in the first place.

Re: I thought this wasn't supposed to be available in the US???
I did get a lot of luck I think if someone only used one sheet of plexiglass it would cost around 50 dollars in the US,so the total cost with one sheet wouldn't be much more than 100 dollars.Considering you could make an extra cage with one more sheet of plexiglass and the leftover portion of melamine,it's a great deal!

Re: I thought this wasn't supposed to be available in the US???
I had updated the cages in the USA in 2015 and both the Kevin and Goran were on the list. I am happy that we have some bigger cages. Wish we had the variety the folks over the pond have though.

Re: I thought this wasn't supposed to be available in the US???
I'm thinking DIY or tank or bin cage are our cheapest options in the US,especially when you want a really big cage.I could make a two cages for around 75 dollars each that are both 48 inches by 48 inches,or pay around 100 dollars plus for a cage that is about half that size and have trouble getting one Definitely information that needs to be considered though,at least for those who aren't as capable with DIY for various reasons and can't get someone to help.
