I really hate the cages
That Rubix and Amiga came in they are so tiny I can barely fit anything in them. But I can't put them in their new cages until next week when my boyfriend brings my cages up. Its not the rescue centres fault it is what they came in but its so small. </3 I have a feeling Rubix's cage issues will almost definitely fix themselves when I change them over. I also really hate the wheels that they have but the one I have (being decent sized wheels) don't fit in the cages very well.
Playhouse 3 Tier Hamster Cage Chrome 40.5x30x48.2xcm from £29.49
Rubix is such a cutie though and very curious. Even though its the middle of the day. I think the move confused him.

Re: I really hate the cages
It's not a good cage but I wouldn't worry, they're used to it so being in a familiar cage, even a bad one, while they get used to all the new things around them, & you of course, for another week isn't such a bad thing.

Yeah its not the smallest cage I've seen but it really doesn't give them much space at all really. I mean I was grateful for it on the way back here as it was easier to get them in the car haha. I just want to give them the best of everything :3

Re: I really hate the cages
I rescued a hammie from the SPCA & she came with her old colorful Critter Cage that she lived in all her life. She was content cause she never knew anything else. Since she is old I thought I'd leave her in her familiar small home but as a couple weeks went by I decided to take a chance & put her in a bin, not a big one but better than she had before with deep bedding for burrowing, being Chinese. She of course has a higher quality of life now.
So the moral of the story is there isn't any rush to upgrade them. It is a bit frustrating seeing them come from such small homes but it's good you have them now & very soon their world will become more enjoyable. Is that link the new cage?

Nope thats the cage they are in now. :/ Its not the worst cage but its also not the best because you can't fit much at all in it really.

Re: I really hate the cages
Only a week to go On the plus side their changes of environement will be done in stages. Firstly to their new house (ie with you) and then to the new cage next week. You're right, they are large pet carrier size - but on the picture it looks like they have a couple of levels which will help a bit on the short term. Will the wheel fit on one of the levels to free up some floor space? Maybe you could make them both a nice shoebox house to make up for it for now

That's good they will be happy with more floor space, I'm sure you will be giving them. Hope the week goes by fast for you! Can you post a link for their new cage if possible?

They're such old cages that I've used for my hams in the past. Ones quite a sizey tank which I am hoping will solve Rubix's cages problems if not it will really make the process of getting him and out of his cage a lot easier than it is now as the doors are so tiny and he doesn't like people reaching in so you have to take the whole top off to get to him but thats only if he is on the ground floor. XD

Yeah true. I am doing it with gradually with toys too. which is why the cages are irritating because I wanted to add some of their toys to the cage so they smelled familiar when I moved them. The wheels won't fit on the levels at all as the levels are too close together. My silent spinner only just fits in Rubix's cage their old wheels were much smaller and attached to the sides of cages but he had to climb across to it a bit which is a concern in case he falls so I don't want to do that. :/

That would be frustrating to have to take apart the cage to get to your hammie!
