Re: Bedding
If you're unsure then I wouldn't recommend using it, but I think it may be fibres from the paper like you get in Carefresh and sometimes Fitch. Once again, if in doubt then I wouldn't recommend using it

Re: Bedding
Do you mean the stuff named "paper cotton" or something like that? I've often wondered about that but the word cotton put me right off! I just give my Sweep some white tissue which he loves! It's so soft and he makes himself a masive nest, which he then sleeps BEHIND because he is a little strange!

Re: Bedding
Could you post a pic of it? Yeah as others have said cotton isn't good for hamsters. I made this mistake with that horrible fluffy bedding stuff until people on here kindly told me about the dangers of it. Toilet paper/plain tissue as pinkneon says shredddd up makes the best cosy safe nest.

Re: Bedding
I use a paper based substrate called fitch then cheap white loo roll ripped up as bedding.
The fluffy bedding that is sold in many pet shops is dangerous and can cause intestinal blockage and impacted pouches.
I am not sure which country you are from. Perhaps you could let us know the name of the bedding and a picture of it so we can help you further.

Re: Bedding
I tend to avoid the cottony fluffy ones as I've heard they can catch around their feet causing injury or become impacted in their cheek pouches. If it has a cotton wool type texture id probably steer clear of it to be safe. I just use Carefresh as the main substrate, then add in some plain soft shredded paper and squares of loo roll for my hammy to rip up and make into a nice cosy nest.
