Default Silent wheel for robo

I've seen quite a few threads about silent wheels however most have been for Syrians, so I wanted to start my own.

I initially tried the Karlie wooden wheel, however my hamster refused to run on it. When I introduced her to the trixie wheel though she instantly loved it and spent many hours running on it. My problem now is it does squeak occasionally and sometimes rattles. I realise part of the problem could be my actual hamster being nosey, but I'm wondering what other experiences people have had with wheels for robos. Are there still problems with the silent spinners? Otherwise I'd try one out. I'm also going to purchase a flying saucer for her playpen, but I want a wheel too.

If you want a truly silent, easy to clean & easy to spin wheel I'd go for a silent runner, I don't have a robo but my chinese love them & I don't see that a robo would have a problem using one, they are a bit bigger though at 9" so need a bit more space in the cage.
The only downside I can think of is cost but they look like they're built to last.
I got mine here but I think you can get them on ebay too.

As Cypher suggested the Silent Runner is very nice. For my robo (s) I have both a 8 in Wodent Wheel & a flying saucer in her cage. The other robo for now has a Silent Spinner & she'll soon be also getting a flying saucer.

The problem with Silent Spinners & flying saucers even, have different degrees of resistance to them. If you can find a Silent Spinner that has zero resistance than your robo will be able to move it. Same thing with flying saucers, however there will be some resistance with the saucers just try to pick one that spins the best. My robo couldn't move one of my medium saucers so I had to exchange it.

The Silent Spinners can get noisy after awhile too but if you spray olive oil on the SS (twist the yellow knob) then it quiets down for awhile till you have to do it again. Maybe not all SS are sqeaky though?

The Wodent Wheel is my favorite stand up wheel for robos, not to contradict the Silent Runner but a Wodent Wheel is perfect for a robo (8 in), it doesn't squeak at all if you dip a Q-tip in baby oil & lube up the metal holes that the rod goes through.

My robo goes crazy over her Wodent Wheel & she equally if not more loves the flying saucer. I just adopted a new robo but eventually she'll get into these two wheels as well, for now she has the Silent Spinner. Hope this helps?

Hmm both my roborovskis love their karlie wheels. Silent as anything. I did buy a junior wodent wheel but have used it for two new syrians in a row so the roborovskis havent had a look in.

It is wonderful and silent too apart from a slight rumble at high speed.

My old syrian sized trixie wheel rattles a lot but makes a good play box toy.

Edit to add silent runners are fantastic. Got one for my youngest syrian. It is wonderful.

Strange that your Robo didn't use the Karlie, I've had multiple Robos use 8" wooden wheels before without any issue.

In my experience, nothing beats wooden wheels for silence, but the flying saucers come second for quietness (as long as you keep the workings of the wheel clean, they do start squeaking when they get sand or dirt in them!). I only have flying saucers in my Robos' cages at the moment, as I was using my remaining 8" Karlie for a Syrian until recently.

Thank you for all your recommendations! Yeah I heard the wooden wheels are very popular on here so I have no idea what my robo has against hers. I wasn't sure if it is a tiny bit too heavy for her compared to the trixie.

When I first bought the Karlie I used spray plastikote. She basically never used it but sat next to it. I wasn't sure if she didn't like the smell, but I assumed she didn't mind since she sat next to it. I was also worried the spray gave the wheel a slightly rougher texture so I bought the trixie and a new Karlie. She instantly liked the trixie when I put it in her playpen and ran on it for hours and hours. I've also tried to introduce her to the new unplastikoted Karlie in a playpen but she didn't seem interested either.

I'm gonna plastikote this one with the paint on version and put it in her cage to see if she'll get used to it and try it out. If not, I'll save it for another potential future hamster (I'm sure I'll get another at some point. Everyone on HC weren't lying when they said hamsters are addictive :P).

It seems like the wodent wheels are pretty good and I've seen a few other posts where people have highly praised the silent runners. Thanks again for all the advise. I think I'll check out the Wodent and silent runners further

I have an old style silent spinner which is great and a new p@h style one. It's not as good as the original but it's not bad. And compared to some it's pretty cheap. Approx £7 I think. The stand is terrible though, plastic flimsy nonsense that this so I'd buy a compatible metal stand if you don't already have one. I gave to say the silent runner does look pretty nice, it's just a question of size and cost.

Edit:I made a little comparison video a while back of the two silent spinner wheels that I own, if it helps.

Definitely recommend a flying saucer. My robo absolutely loved his and it stayed silent. They are also cheaper than silent spinners which is why I bought him one in the first place & im so glad I did! I got the small size one. He would go so mental on it all night. Just a shame that my winter white doesn't seem to like it too much :/

Thanks for the advise. I think I'll try out the wooden wheel again and also order a silent spinner. Hopefully my robo will like that and if not I'll look into silent spinners, silent runners, and wodent wheels.

For my current trixie, could I use some olive oil to make it run smoother?
