Hiya, and welcome to the forum

Dont worry about asking questions that might sound silly to you - the only way to learn is to ask questions

This isnt a silly question at all!

Perfecto tanks are very good tanks, but they can be very heavy, so can be awkward to clean - especially under the shelves, as it can be hard to reach inside and under the shelf.

Also, the plastic vent can encourage chewing - and it can get damaged if chewed too much! and eventually fall out!

I know i have just listed all of the bad points, but apart from those, it is a good tank - if you dontmind lifting something quite heavy. I have a few of them and i have cut out all but one shelf to make it easy for cleaning, and i only put my non-chewers in them - they are especially good for any hamsters that will use a box or jar as a their toilet - as then it isnt so hard to clean - although it can get a little sweaty if they sleep under the shelf!

I much prefer normal glass tanks, without the shelf at all - as i find them much easier to clean! and there isnt the problem of the vent being chewed either!

Hope this helps

Tammy x

I've had my two perfecto tanks for just over a month, I'd say.

I love them. So do my hamsters. I've got the biggest ones. In my opinion, any smaller than the largest would be too small. I find them very easy to clean aswell. I get most of the stuff out by hand, and then vacuum the bits up. And then get hot soapy water and just go over the bits that are dirty, and dry it with kitchen towel. I think once a month I will take it out to the sink and do a proper good clense.

I have got a sucker on each tank, with a hook on it, and then put the bottle through the ventilation hole, which prevent them from chewing it. I attatched it to the sucker with an elastic band. It seems to work quite well.

My hamsters are definately more active in the perfecto than their other cage. They play more, rather than biting the bars. It's lovely to watch. And so much easier to see them.

Hi,

As Tammy has said Perfecto tanks are very awkward to clean, I have two which I have now put to one side. I have 26 tanks/bins/cages and Perfectos are by far the hardest to clean. Having said all this I did find the Perfecto good for training, probably too good, lol. You see my little Princess comes straight out of any cage now as soon as it is open which sometimes isn't what you want. They are also twice as much as a clear-seal tank. I am moving to Large bins and Aquariums. Present setups can be seen on my forum in the signature.
