Re: New Hamster Heaven
Can't post the photo I was sent and it isn't of the finished product. Sorry. I'm sure there'll be a photo soon! I don't have any dimensions either, other than it's a 100cm cage and looks a similar size to the Barney. Stylewise it looks similar to the Zeno rat cage (ie with the joining strips on the edges) - which looks good and means no large gaps at the edges I hope it's not too expensive either. I did say I'd pass on that it would be available soon! It will have all the roof space clear of doors and one large front door when finished apparently. I don't know what the bar spacing is either but it looked quite small.

I wonder how easy it'll be to get hold of, maybe you should tell them they have a waiting list already

Yeah, a HC waiting list! "Exclusively available to members of the HC forum, before being released to the general public" ... We'd have about a million new members

Re: New Hamster Heaven
Trouble is if you need a cage now, May/June is a long time to wait for a hammy! I'm sure yours will be very happy in the one you got Brittany You'll need a wheel for it as the supplied one is too small. Check out the wheel threads. Sometimes that means taking out one of the plastic levels that comes with the cage, but I think a 29cm wheel does fit between the two levels.

Re: New Hamster Heaven
Thats true, I don't think I can wait until May June time anyway. I find it funny how most of the toys you see aimed at syrian hamsters are actually too small. Like a lot of the cages you see in pet shops are always too small. I can't believe their allowed to sell them knowing they're too small.

I can't believe it either - it shows commercialism is the priority without any thought for what is suitable - but you think they'd have more sense - they must get loads of returns and complaints for hamster toys. Some break easily as well and have nails sticking out!
About the new cage as well - sometimes release dates for products can end up being later than originally quoted too.

Tell me about it! The worst, in my opinion, are pet shops like some of the ones we have at home where they tell you about food/toys/substrates and even cages for hamsters, and then go on to sell you the products that are unsuitable. They say that it is because the customers need to know all the options to be able to make an informed decision about what to buy. But if they are going to tell you a 30x40 cage (yes, I've seen one almost that small!) is too small then they should make sure you are buying suitable items! Or not sell them in the first place ...

Re: New Hamster Heaven
Its such a shame that it all comes down to money too. I very rarely see big hamster cages in shops, Just those small rubbish ones. :/

Re: New Hamster Heaven
Yeah. Probably because a lot of people buying for children would think a big cage is too big for them to clean, and might also get put off if they really knew how much hamsters cost!
