Bedding getting wet?
Hello. Well my hamsters bedding is becoming wet from her water bottle. I'm guessing it's leaking from where she drinks it from. The rest of her home is fine. Just an area where the water bottle is. Could she get sick from this or any hazard at all. Thank you.

Re: Bedding getting wet?
Most water bottles drip a bit, I usually put a little saucer of some sort under the bottle if they do & the hams usually drink the drips!
If it leaks excessively you need to get a better bottle.
The substrate shouldn't be getting wet enough to cause her any problems but you can just remove & replace the damp stuff if you're worried.

Re: Bedding getting wet?
You could put a stone or shallow ceramic dish underneath the water bottle to catch the drips, or just get a new water bottle. It isn't good for hamsters to get too wet. I wouldn't be happy leaving a drippy water bottle in my cages, especially as if it all drips out at any point they will be left without water. Both mine have two water bottles in case one fails.

Could they drink out of a bowl? I moved her water to a small bowl and took the bottle out. To prevent anything from getting even more wet.

Re: Bedding getting wet?
They can drink from a bowl but it does need to be very small & not too deep, the problem is that it would probably need changing frequently as it's hard to keep a bowl clean & they can get knocked over.

I don't know about the US you may be able to get the Living world glass bottle which is quite good, I use the mini classic bottles but don't know if you have them there, probably not.

Re: Bedding getting wet?
Ugh my poor girl. I returned her old bottle that leaked a ton and purchased a new one yesterday. It was working fine for a while. Then last night i woke up to her trying so hard to get water out. I don't know how long she was struggling for. So I rushed and filled a tiny bowl with water and she drank it for a few minutes. I felt so bad. I cannot find a good quality bottle at all. It angers me.

Re: Bedding getting wet?
I use the same bottles as cypher suggested. I have 2 spares in case any of them fail. If you do find a good one then maybe get 2 just in case you have a similar problem x

I live in the US. I guess the quality of the bottles in the UK are much better
