Re: Starting to smell!
It could be when she's in heat but also sometimes I notice a little bit of a smell when they pee but then the smell just dissipates.
If she's peeing in her nest put the litter tray next to her house, take some of the soiled nesting material & put it on top of the sand, with any luck she will begin to use it.
Cleaning everything out once a week is too much & will make her feel unsafe as her scent keeps disappearing, just spot clean taking out wet or smelly bedding but leave everything else for about a month & give her a chance to settle.
She may be peeing in her house because she feels safer in there & be more inclined to use the tray as she gains confidence.
From what you've said so far & my very limited experience (one diabetic ham) it doesn't sound as though you need to be worrying about diabetes although it is something you always have to be aware of with hybrids if you see signs of excessive drinking or peeing or behavioural changes.
