Re: Suggestions on Sound Proofing Enclosure
Awh, I love to hear about all the different personalities. I realized from having guinea pigs that a lot of people don't understand how much character little fur balls can have! They're truly not all the same.

Re: Suggestions on Sound Proofing Enclosure
I was adamant when I got my hamster that he was going to stay in my room.
He lasted one night in there, we moved him to the study and now he is in the dining room.
I can still sometimes hear him at night haha

Re: Suggestions on Sound Proofing Enclosure
I wish that was an option for us, but our room is the only one we have in the house XD So I need to find a way to make the home as quiet as possible.

Re: Suggestions on Sound Proofing Enclosure
Lol don't pick a yellow hamster then! Glowy is yellow and I understand he is pretty typical of his type behaviours wise. He's terribly cute but so noisy! I don't think you can tell til you get them home. I reckon I could sleep through whatever Nibble does at night as I never hear himself. Even Nibble is surprised by the noise Glowy makes!

Re: Suggestions on Sound Proofing Enclosure
I'm hoping to find a breeder in my state, so they could hopefully help gauge noise level for specific babies xD

Re: Suggestions on Sound Proofing Enclosure
I'd suggest getting a male Syrian too - they are generally more lazy - except for yellow ones like Glowy lol!

Re: Suggestions on Sound Proofing Enclosure
Awh poo lol. I was hoping for a female because they tend to be larger xD
But tendency for quiet is more important than size.
Does the color really have stereotypical behaviors that correspond to it lol?

Re: Suggestions on Sound Proofing Enclosure
Not generally I don't think, but Nancy, who is a breeder, reckons yellow ones are maverick! And Bertie is having that experience lol! I love our boy syrian - he's such a character. Yes girls are sweet - but they do come on heat every four days too! Which is maybe why they are a bit more crazy sometimes lol. I also read that girls tend to be larger but our boy is huge! If it's a big baby it'll probably be a big adult, so maybe choose a big male baby. Or a female if you prefer! Don't get me wrong - lots of people love their girl hamsters. But boy ones can be a bit more laid back.

Re: Suggestions on Sound Proofing Enclosure
I think you have to pick which ham you fall in love with. I picked Nibble, and my daughter chose Glowy. I'm glad I didn't know about the reputation of yellow hams as I would never have brought him home, and we would have missed out on so much fun! As for size, Nibble is a giant ham the size of a Guinea pig lol so I have the noisiest ham and the biggest ham! Just go to the breeder/shop and pick with your heart not your head.
