Have just taken delivery of a wobust Wodent wheel for Nibble. Wowser it's huge! (It's the 12" version for plus size hams lol)

Lol - they are big aren't they! It's the depth really. Somehow it doesn't seem so big once it's in the cage - I've got used to it. At least you have the height for it in the Barney! I only have a couple of centimetres above and below it in our cage.

The comfort wheels come in 12" and 8.5" I think. Some people seem happy with them and others say they are noisy and break quickly.

What colour is your Wobust wheel? I had no choice in colour as ordered as a bit of an emergency from petplanet so it is pale blue and white which somehow makes it look even bigger lol. The dark coloured ones seem to be less obtrusive.

It's blue and white like yours, they didn't have anything else. I've been trying to catch Nibble running on his wheel for weeks to see if he needed the bigger wheel and never saw him as he doesn't like running in front of us lol so in the end I just ordered it anyway!

Just watched the video, it really shows why they need a bigger wheel doesn't it! He looks like he has so much space to run!

Lol. I did something similar. I ordered the 27cm Wodent and the Wobust, took one look at the 27cm Wodent and thought - he's too long for that - didn't even let him try it - so kept the Wobust! Coco kindly bought the 27cm one from me so it belongs to Mocho now It looked nice in green. If I'm ever feeling flush I might get a new front panel and track in a different colour from Rodipet.

The 29cm Karlie wheel was big enough for Charlie - it was fine. But the 28cm cork one again just wasn't quite big enough for him to run without his head bent up slightly. So I reckon for big syrians like Nibble and Charlie 29 or 30cm is best, although I know the Trixie 28cm is supposed to be ok for some large Syrians - maybe the internal diameter is slightly bigger than 28cm or something.

I do kind of wish they made the Wobust wheel a bit less deep though (I think that's to fit rats in). The Karlie is 9cm deep which is about right - the Wobust is 13cm deep! Same size as the 30cm Silent spinner - that is also 13cm deep. I definitely preferred the Wobust to that though as the Silent spinner just didn't seem as well made and didn't spin well.

Mocho being a smaller male is fine with his Wodent wheel. Still going strong here! He will be 9 months in about a week so I will weigh him then. He hasn't quite made 160 yet.

Goodness I can't believe Mocho is nearly 9 months old! He sounds like a nice sensible size lol!

OMG how much does Nibble love the Wobust wheel! We gave it to him during his out of cage time yesterday and he tried to drag it to his cage lol of course no camera handy.... Finally we found an accessory that makes Nibble look small! So much more spacious than the 11"/28cm Trixie. He's definitely running in it more aswell, I'd begun to notice I didn't hear his wheel as much at night (he won't run in front of us usually!)

Build wise, the wodent wheel is far superior in quality to the trixie wheels, they are pricier but definitely worth it. I'm definitely going to get Glowy a wobust one In time, his trixie is fine but he is going to be big when he's done growing!

For reference, Nibble is pretty much full grown, very long and weighs 260g at the mo, he is a big ham. Glowy is 10 weeks and weighs 150g already.

Fixing wise, basically if your ham is big enough to need a wobust Wodent wheel you need a big cage, it really is a big wheel! Nibble's cage is 100x50cm and I had to rearrange a bit to fit everything in. I hung it from the cage ceiling, it's not very quiet the way I did it but I'm not sleeping in the same room so I don't care!

Would love to see where you have it in the Barney! It'll be inspiration for me. Ours is incredibly quiet. Just a slight swish. I put 3 cable ties tying the base to the top of the cage. Is it rattly noisy or squeaky noisy? Took me a while to get ours put in right.
