Thanks everyone, I am glad you like them. They are more for running through, rather than sleeping in, a house is the next project on the list! Both my Syrians like them and Domino especially will go out of his way to run through them!
Shannonmcn and RubyDG I will look into making a Trixie lief shape house. I had one for my Syrian when I first got him and it was way too small! Would you prefer it without the dividers inside or with?
I forgot to say that they are of course made with pet safe paint

Dividers, definitely. The Trixie Leif house has a good design I think it's just that overall it's a bit small. Personally I'd be looking for something much the same just a bigger house with bigger chambers and no floor at all (I had to remove mine). I like 'natural' type houses so wouldn't want something painted, although I'm sure many people would. I also like being able to lift off the roof to check on him so I'd look for that feature as well

Roughly how much bigger would you want it?

Difficult to say, I'm really bad at measurements and visualizing things. Maybe something like 5cm bigger for each chamber, enough to give room to turn around properly? Not sure though

They look fantastic, did you paint them, buy the wood and glue it altogether?

I think they would look lovely in a hamster's cage!

Snowz thanks! Yes I designed them, my husband showed me how to make them and then I painted them. It's very frustrating that most things sold for Syrians are just not big enough, so I finally decided to do something about it!

RubyDG I am no good at visualising it either! I will have a go over the weekend and see what I can come up with.

RubyDG is this anything like what you want?

It's taller, wider and longer. It only has two dividers though, as it was difficult to fit a third one in. Also the second hole is in the side rather than the top, though i could put another hole in the top if required.

here's the 35mm Trixie Lief for comparison.

I did have to use nails, as we don't have any clamps to hold it together whilst gluing it.

That looks great PiggyRoom and nicely finished. A hamster will love the separate sections inside! You could also make a wooden ramp to allow the hamster access to the roof? Little hooks on the end of the ramp (safely done though) with counter sunk holes in the box for the dowels or downward facing hooks to slot into? x

Thanks Racinghamster! That's a good idea about putting a ramp in.
