Both cages look nice, a terracotta pot would be a good addition to the new hams home, have you got a house in that one? Can't quite make it out, if not I do think they need a house as well as any additional hideaways you can fit in.

It's for a Winter White. I but a carton box under the drinking bottle she can climb on top of it through tubes.

The alaska is a nice cage for dwarfs & I never use any of the bits that come with it either, shelf house etc, much better to do your own set up to suit your ham, looks like Beauty is having fun exploring there!
Where does she sleep?
Not sure if you mean a cardboard box by carton box or if she can use it as a hideout?
Plastic houses aren't so good really as condensation can build up in them, a cardboard box or wooden house is good.

That looks really nice Enh I was also wondering about a house - under the shelf on the left might be a good place. He'll need somewhere dark to go and sleep and build a nest. I'd be a bit careful with chains on toys as well - I can't see what kind they are on the hammock and the toy at the back. Any rings attaching them to the bars need to be big enough they couldn't get a food trapped, but not so big they could get a head trapped! Sisal string can be good for tying things up and some people use extra large paperclips to hang hammocks.

A shoebox house would go nicely under the shelf if you didn't want to buy one or couldn't find one. Upside down on the substrate and cut a hole for a door in the front.

I'm quite happy with how my bin cage turned out

I still want to decorate the front and get a better solution for the water bottle.

That wheel is way too small for a Syrian And the tunnel thing looks very narrow as well But otherwise looks nice, just a bit bare

She seems to fit the wheel fine, it may be the angle of the photo. Her back isn't arched or anything when she runs. I want to change it for a flying saucer anyway at some point.

I wouldn't get a flying saucer, they're prone to arching the side regardless of the diameter and can cause the hamster to fly off the side. What size is the wheel?A Syrian as an adult would need around a 30 cm wheel,if not 30.5 cm.

I actually have a German source of wheel information here that is great to take a look at as they go into detail on styles of wheel that are safe and unsafe but you will need to translate it:

Thanks for the info about flying saucers, think I'll avoid that! I'll definitely be changing the wheel at some point, that was just a quick replacement from pets at home as the one that came with her original cage was tiny. Can't remember the size it said on the box, but it said suitable for Syrian hamsters.

Most things that say suitable for Syrians are actually suitable for dwarf hamsters, while rat sized things are Syrian sized and very rarely actually rat sized unless you have tiny rats It is definitely easy to make mistakes though,so don't feel bad!

You're welcome for the info though,it's just something I stumbled upon thanks to another member as the original information from that source I was reading was about cages and then I ended up going to the wheel side of things by accident.Very interesting information though, overall!

It should be okay temporarily,as long as you replace it as soon as possible.
