Default Comfort Wheel won't spin.

I recently bought my winter white an 8" comfort wheel since she has out grown her previous wheel, but the comfort wheel is stiff to the point that she can barely get it to move before giving up. Any tips on making it run smoother? I don't care about the noise problem, which isn't a problem at all, I just want her to be able to run as comfortable as possible.

Hi. I`ve seen a few YouTube videos about making this wheel run smoother. Here is one, but make sure the vegetable oil used is sunflower oil and not something too ransid.

Go to YouTube home page and type in Comfort Wheel and many pages will come up relating to the wheel. x

Can you exchange the wheel? I've used comfort wheels but often had to try out 3-4 at the store to find one that ran smooth. If it's from Amazon, they are good about exchanging them too and I've done that at least once I can think of.

I agree about using a touch of veg oil though, it works wonders and I do that every few months to keep them smooth. HOWEVER, the oil won't work if the bearing is too tight.

I couldn`t really find any good tutorials on this particular wheel except the one in the link and a few others saying how good they are or how to make them spin better, but there are a few other wheels that cost a little more, and are far better. The Karlie Wonderland wheel (Zoozplus.co.uk) and there is also the Wodent wheel. Both great for dwarf hamsters. Here is the Wonderland wheel featured on Zooplus:

The 20cm one is best for dwarf hamsters. The smallest one would only really be suitable for a roborovski. x
