Re: Just something I'm thinking about...
My Trixie wheel is done the same way RH is suggesting, a really great sturdy wheel and very light to operate.

Re: Just something I'm thinking about...
Ok so amendments have been made! The wheel is tacked down to a spare wooden placemat that I had. I thought it'd be fine as a temporary measure until I could get a piece of pine but it actually seems to be working really well so I'll probably leave it as it is. I've chucked a load more substrate in and packed it all tightly around the placemat and it seems really sturdy.
I remembered a load of toilet roll tubes that I had put them in a box for Rupert but he got too big for them really quickly so I never gave them to him! I've partially buried some under the substrate and others almost entirely with just a little gap at the opening so hopefully little Robo will have fun finding those and tunnelling through them!
I need to call into B&M today so will look for something suitable to use as a sandbath container in there.
Then I think I am about good to go!

Re: Just something I'm thinking about...
A ceramic shallow dish as a sand bath would be useful. Something he or she can easily hop in and out of. I used a ceramic pot plant dish/drip tray. I have three glazed drip trays that work well as sand trays. And good garden place will sell them cheap I imagine. x

A plain old glass jar makes a good sand bath too!

Re: Just something I'm thinking about...
Rescue rang me yesterday - I was in work but practically squealed with excitement when I saw the caller! - unfortunately though it was a Chinese hamster they had in, which I don't think my tank would have been suitable for.
I'm going to Pets At Home shortly to have a look at their Adoption section. x

Re: Just something I'm thinking about...
You must have been so disappointed! I think you're right though, your tank is more suited to a robo rather than a Chinese & I'm sure there's a little robo out there somewhere just waiting for you.
Good luck with the hunt at P$H.

Re: Just something I'm thinking about...
Only just caught up with this thread when I saw it in your New Addition thread. Nice set up Barley. And I know in an ideal world larger cages are better but I have Hector, my robo in a mini duna & he gets on just fine. He was supposed to be upgraded to a duna multy but he only lasted 3 weeks in there because he didn't like the extra space. Rescue ham who'd only ever been in a tiny enclosure got weirded out by it. Silly boy He seems much happier in a smaller cage but with shelf as he can do circuits. But I agree with the rescue lady, when you consider the alternative for a lot of those hamsters, this is the better option. Can't wait to see how your little boy gets on
