Acryic tank cost
The other week I asked a company who make acrylic tanks for a quote for a tank 100cm x 50cm x 50cm thinking it would be lighter than a glass tank and probably a similar cost.
I just had the quote back in an email today and they quoted - wait for it!
£965 !!!!!!!!

Re: Acryic tank cost
What sort of a quote is that? You can get custom glass tanks made for tons less, acrylic isn't exactly hard to come by so I can't see what justification they have for that price tag.

Holy %*&$! That's insane . I know if you're having it made it's fair to pay for labor but the materials alone wouldn't even come to around £50. Total rip-off!!

Re: Acryic tank cost
I know, it's ridiculous. It would probably cost no more than £60 in materials.

Really? Isn't that just cutting off their nose to spite their face? I would have thought any business is good business, no matter the size of what is wanted they are still getting money for it. They are going to lose out if they make quotes like that just because they can't be bothered.

Re: Acryic tank cost
A cheaper way of doing it would be to buy cheaper Perspex panels and use some sort of glue that attaches them together, a bit like aquarium sealant? Or some kind of specialist plastic glue? I know the tanks you mean. Some companies make them for displays in shopping centres and commercially and they cost a bomb! x

Re: Acryic tank cost
I'm sure it can't be that hard or expensive to make one of those! I wonder what they'd say if you asked for a breakdown of costs!
