Default Calling all Imac fantasy owners ;)

I am after your thoughts please!

Right, I have my two fantasys, both with added extensions. When I got them last week I put shavings on every level including the roof part (except for the bedroom corner ). However, I saw a photo the other day with just shavings in the deeper base part. My hams do pee in the bottom section so it wouldn't be needed to absorb that. It would save a whole lot of mess if I didn't or maybe just a thinner layer. As I do have to hoover by their cages at least once daily to keep the carpet clean. Plus, both of them on different nights this week have stuffed the tubes with shavings and I have had empty it out in the morning. Obviously if the shavings were only at the base they wouldn't be able to block themselves of from their water like this.

Any thoughts, what do you do?

I too have 2 Fantasys but no extensions, however when I first had them I also put shavings on the top level but it was a pain because when you took the lid off to clean or feed etc, it came fell everywhere and it did stop them accessing their helter skelters (in my case as robos couldn't get up the tubes) as it blocked the hole at the top.

I don't put anything on the top level now and they seem fine on the plastic base. If you are worried about them on the bare plastic then you could buy the little grass mats that are available but I think in general they should be fine without shavings on those levels.

Mine still manage to get shavings everywhere even though it's on the base level. Messy little critters, don't think i've every hoovered up as much lol.

I would not put shavings on the higher levels. We have a few cages with levels and shelves and we only ever put shavings on the bottom level. You can always just wipe it over or wash it if looks very grubby.

Yeah will be much easier for you from now on!! I wipe out the top levels with baby wipes (anti-bacterial ones) if they look grubby before a proper clean because we've got Robos they don't need to be cleaned out as much as Syrians. Seeing as i've run out of megazorb now and have had to use shavings they will be cleaned out more often, until I buy some more. I've had to hoover more since they've had shavings in their cages as opposed to megazorb, so will definately go back to using that!

hiya, i also have two imacs with extentions and i only ever put shavings in the bottom of the cage, then when i clean out i just wipe the shelves with baby wipes and bingo its done. just tip the bottom out and re-fill it with fresh shavings

I'm a new IMAC owner but I didn't put shavings on either of the levels either.
