scented sand bath?

Recently I bought a scented sand bath for my newly bought syrian,Smokey. I was wondering are scented ones good for them? and, when the first time I place the sand in his cage, he seemed to be eating it. Is this normal? i've never used any sand baths for my hamsters and this is my first time. please help me out. thank you in advance!

I would not recommend using scented litter of any sort for hammies. They have very sensitive noses and the smell will seem very strong to them. If you can imagine being in a small room with a very strong air freshener you don't like that must be how they find it. It can also cause chestiness and allergies.
I would choose the Charlie Chinchilla SAND (not dust as this is dangerous) It comes in a sort of milk bottle type pack. Ours love to roll in this and also use it as a toilet.
