Default Problems with sand for hamster

Hi guys,
So I have a problem:
My hamster loves bathing in her sand, but whenever she bathes, she ends up kicking out a lot of sand, which then gets all over the bedding. Therefore, I end up having to replace a lot of bedding daily. I tried to give her less sand, but it still ends up all over the bedding. Any ideas how I can prevent the sand from getting all over the place?

I wouldn't worry about the sand getting on the bedding its normal and I wouldn't replace the bedding the sand has gotten on to, I find my hamster kick their sand around also, I just leave it until cage clean, the sand that she wees on should clump together and it will only be the clean sand getting spread around which wont hurt her,

What do you use for a sand bath? For my Syrian, for her toilet corner, I have a large jar that I try & have tilted up (the biscuit jars that you can lay on the side) to stop quite as much getting kicked out. My little robo just has a fairly shallow plastic dish which he kicks sand out the back of, for his sand bath but that just gets mixed up in the bedding & usually just drops through to the bottom of the cage.

Maybe you need to use something with high sides on it to stop the sand flying out.
Velma uses a biscuit jar, which sounds ideal.

I agree there's no need to worry about sand going everywhere, it tends to fall to the bottom under the substrate & won't cause a problem.
There are quite a few things you could try using though, glass jars work well for a lot of hams, one of mine has a salt pig which works well & another has a bird bath which is pretty good at containing more of the sand too, I got it from zooplus Bird Bath Hagen Vision - Great deals at zooplus

I have two sand areas for my hamster, she has a small ceramic dish which she uses as her toilet and then a large area that is sectioned off by a medium bendy bridge which she digs in and kicks about. The bridge is great at stopping the sand from getting out.

I would recommend keeping the sand despite him kicking it out as he obviously enjoys it.

Don't worry about it going onto the substrate, it's perfectly safe to be mixed in
