Good cages for a syrian who loves bar climbing?
I posted this on ¨Hamster chat¨ but felt this part of the site was more appropriate.. so if somebody that can, wants to merge it go ahead. I have a syrian.. Full grown.. Will be getting a 12 inch wheel.. Any ideas on cages? i cant find one thats suitable for him to save my life.. any ideas would help.. all the big ones are 3 stories.. and the 2&3 stories are made of wire or whatever.. and are so high and im afraid hell fall..

Re: Good cages for a syrian who loves bar climbing?
Marchioro Kevin is a great bar cage. Not cheap, but awesome. The bar spacing is smaller, so it's tougher for them to chew the bars, compared to its near twin, the Marchioro Goran. That being said, you wrote on another thread (just saw) that your hamster chipped her tooth already biting bars. If you want to prevent that happening again, a tank or bin cage is a must. They can permanently break their teeth off and end up on special food for the rest of their life. You have to choose what's best for them over what they prefer.

Re: Good cages for a syrian who loves bar climbing?
Honestly, from what I've read in the other thread and the fact that he has, though is not currently, bar-chewed and likes to climb, I would have to second the bin cage. You could cut out a large opening in the front and mesh it (Hazel Nut loves to climb as well but she has taken up to bar-chewing 1/2" mesh coated in plastic and will occasionally do so with the metal one I replaced it with so I'm thinking for her newest cage, I'll be returning her to 1/4" mesh). To be extra cautious, you could use 1/4" mesh which is too small for them to chew but still allows them to climb. You'd also be able to save money this way--you can get a bin with more than enough room for dos and his 12" wheel (which wheel did you end up getting?) for under $20 and the mesh will set you back less than $10.

Re: Good cages for a syrian who loves bar climbing?
how about the Furet Plus Rat Cage | Pets At Home its good for hams that like to climb and with a few hammocks the falls are safe, also the bar spacing is 1cm so ok for a Syrian with a large door on the top and a large door on the side it is easy excess, its a little expensive but it is a well made easy to put together cage that will last you a long time
