Fact: I hate the 12'' Silent Spinner

How can I make it better? =/

We moved Java from an 11'' Wodent wheel in her 29gal to a 12'' spinner in her 40gal tank. It's way more durable and easier to clean, but I think they were like:
"Hey guys let's make a wheel"
"Okay, so we'll make a really quiet one"
"Cool, but like, let's not try to make the big one as quiet, because LOL"
"Okay, but we still have to charge lotsa money for it ok"
"Yeah bro"

Or something. It makes a stupid amount of noise and I've tweaked it, and fussed with it, and it insists on making noise. I wanna hang it upside down, but I can't really with how it's designed.

Any suggestions? =/ Java might drive me crazy.

Be sure the base is level and solidly on the floor of the cage. I used to actually velcro them to the floor of the cage to prevent them walking the tank. Never had a 12 inch one though so unsure if that might be why it's making noise.

You might have to secure the back of the stand to the wall somehow as well as the base to the floor. I've found with mine that it's so wide and sticks out so far beyond its centre of gravity that it leans forward.

Yeah I think it needs securing - and Braingirl I think you're spot on with the wideness taking it off gravity. That is likely causing the noise. I'll see what I can do!

Not sure if that could be the issue here, but I think sometimes they are noisy because the two plastic parts (the coloured one and the white one) are not properly glued together and you need to do it again.

I don't have an issue with mine. I can hear them spin but they are not wobbly. Maybe cause one doesn't have much room to move around and the other is on the kitty litter pellets. That stuff is awesome for keeping things in their place. lol

Peanut, the color front comes off of the back. They are not glued. Urine and poo seep between the two pieces. You push on the colored part where they are connected to pop it out. I find the 12" one is pretty hard to take apart though. Soaking without taking apart works too, but I find that too time consuming. I want to get it over with and move on. lol

I did just read on another thread that someone did glue the two pieces to make them one. Not sure I'd do that though.

oh ok, a friend of mine who has a silent spinner glued the two pieces together because hers was noisy too(I have been talking to a lot of people about wheels recently), so I assumed they might have been glued in the first place. Anyway it helped...

I'll see what I can do later today. I have to finish my essay and then clean about five tanks, so I should be busy most of the morning, but as Java's wheel needs a good clean (and her potty) I can look see how to fix it.
