Re: hammocks and syrians?!
Yes ive read too many times about hams hurting themselves on that ladder so didn't want to risk it. The swing thing i madr is just literally lolly sticks and string. 2 really long pieces of string folded over, tie a knot in one end of both, then keep adding lolly sticks and tieing a knot between each one. Really really easy to do. If you want the bottom to stay straight like mine then glue a couple of lolly sticks to the bottom of it

If you want a quick and easy DIY job, buy sisal string from a homeware store and thread it through some cardboard tubes, instant swinging tube. I had one in Marbles cage and he loved climbing on top of it. I'd place a treat in the tube for him to try and get, was a lot of fun

I like that idea Danni! 2LP - you are very clever! You make it sound easy - I guess I could do it but you have no idea how cack handed I am doing fiddly little things! Although I did master loom bands - so - maybe!

Re: hammocks and syrians?!
I won't have room for a swing now anyway - have a 30cm vine piece coming for him to climb on, and an extendable plastic tube, so plenty to explore and he can always swing on his wheel - which he does! And a sand bath - I'm hoping the fun and excitement of things he likes (rolling, tunnels and climbing) will make him forget I messed with his nest. Please Charlie!

Re: hammocks and syrians?!
I wouldn't upset him, hamsters like small changes to keep them occupied, although large changes like always moving cages is a bit disturbing

Re: hammocks and syrians?!
Thanks - yes I'll put the sand bath in first - that should keep him happy, then one thing at a time and see how it goes. He had great fun in a wellington boot last night so maybe he's settling down a bit.

Aha! I have two Youtube videos. One is the one of Charlie, and while I was at putting that on, I made a 'Easy Loom bands' video, which is embarrassing and absolutely terrible and I am sitting in bed in my dressing gown due to the flu. And I sound like a Teacher. Just did it for fun really, but if you want to master loom bands, have a look!
