Hey,
As Marvin grows, I keep thinking he needs a bigger wheel. The one he's got at the moment (which came with the cage) is 5 inches in diameter - is this too small?
I've seen ones on ebay which are 6.5 inches which sound like a good size - would this size be suitable for a syrian hamster?
The wheel you have is definately too small. Anything under 6" is only really suitable for Robos. Syrians really do best with an 8" wheel, such as the Comfort wheel, or Wodent Wheel. The savic rolly jumbo's good too.

Re: How big should a wheel be?
Definitly too small. Watch how he runs. He should be able to run stretched right out flat with no curve in his back and the back should not touch the spindle. The Savic Jumbo rolly at 8in is good as are the Wodent wheels and 8in comfort wheel. Even the 61/2in silent spinner is too small.
