I have this - I used it for a short time for my hamster but eventually upgraded his cage to a bigger one. It's ok - but the bars on the top are too far apart for a Syrian so you'll have to mesh them to prevent escapes.
If you use the space wisely it will be fine. The main thing is to devise some sort of shelf; a house with a flat top on would do or construct your own from pieces of wood. You'll need a shelf for food etc and it makes far better use of the space as there is no actual shelf in the Rody like there is with the Rex-style cage.
