Here's a couple of pics of the Karlie in a Hamster Heaven that's 50cm wide (at the widest part).

I would personally go for the Karlie but then I'm bias I have two 6.5" SS and they can get rattly but I've had no problems with noise from the Karlie, all you can hear is the hams paws hitting the wood

3ft is 91cm so wouldn't take up too much room, although if you can order the 4ft one... I'd do it lol!

i was VERY tempted to get the 4ft, was going backwards and forwards between the 2 all day. in the end decided on the 3ft purely because it will fit nicely on the shelving unit i have at the moment (which is like an 'L' shape rotated anti-clockwise 90degree), the bigger one would have meant rearranging cupboards and stacking a couple of stuff on top of each other, messing the room up a bit. and then if i ever decide to move it into a different room i've more chance of finding a place for the 3ft to sit.

it has been dispatched now and will arrive tomorrow so i guess we'll have to see when it comes. although deep down i know i should have probably gone for the 4ft just so i can put more things in and for hammie to have more space, it's so hard to get a good perspective of things no matter how many pictures i look at, and how much i'm there with the tape measure!

on a side note my hammie is coming from a breeder and the babies are due this evening ive felt like a kid waiting for Christmas!!

Haha I was the same when I got my first hamster cage. I remember laying out magazines on the floor to get an idea of how big the footprint of the cage I ordered was... XD

What breeder are you getting your ham from?

I might be in the minority but the wheel I've found that works best for me is the Comfort Wheel. It comes in an 8.5 inch size which is perfect for my Syrians. They can run without arching their back, and it doesn't take up too much space. It's super easy to clean. As far as noise, if it starts to get squeaky I just put a little olive oil where the wheel meets the base and that seems to do the trick. We have two hamster cages in our bedroom and the noise doesn't bother me at night. I do sleep with a fan on for white noise so that certainly helps too. I recently sold all of my whodent wheels. They were super quiet and looked great but where a total pain to clean. My one hamster pees on his wheel constantly and it was annoying to have to disassemble the WW every night.

I have the Karlie Wonderland Wheel and it is excellent, though I highly reccomend sealing it, depending on your hamster.

The hamster I had which first had this wheel, Dash, nibbled it a little, but otherwise mostly slept behind it, so it lasted well with him without any sealant. Gino, on the other hand, has had it a few months, and decided to pee on it in one corner. And then when I cleaned out the cage moved to the other. D'oh.

It is a very quiet wheel though, although I find in a bin cage Gino manages to make it shake enough to rattle off the walls sometimes. When I get him moved to a vivarium it shouldn't be a problem, as it wasn't in Dash's aquarium, but it's something to note. (I think it has something to do with the bottom of the bin not being perfectly flat, so it tilts backwards a bit.)
