There are some good cages on the zooplus website for less than £50 and delivery will be free. Hamster Cages: great selection at zooplus
I have the Barney for my syrian and it's great. It's on special offer at £39.90 at the moment. Lots of people have the Alaska cage too.

Have you shown your Mum the bins on here? Is she perhaps worried about the DIY risks of cutting yourself? You can make a super bin cage & have fun doing it, perhaps with some help from an adult handyman I am using the IKEA SAMLA bins - the largest size with lid is just £13. Using £5 roll of mesh from Wilko & plastic ties instead of bolts (£1 for a big packet at one of the £Shops) keeps the costs as low as possible. You would have a lot of the £50 left for toys, furnishings, bedding etc.

Definitely recommend the Barney from ZooPlus, it's a great cage at a great price. Only issue I have with it is that the access isn't as good as I'm used to, got spoilt by the Hamster Heaven access XD

Ah! 22 - an awkward age if you still live at home & have to respect that it is your Mum's place & not yours! Hmm! Well I am looking forward to having a hammy in a bin as I so remember my old wire cages where the hammies were forever kicking shavings & bedding stuff out between the bars & onto the carpet or whatever cupboard they were stood on!

But you've had some good budget suggestions there.

I Love the Alexander, it's currently on offer on zoo plus for £69.90 so slightly over your budget but it's huge and your mum would be happy as it's very nice aesthetically.

However, if you have the space then you should definitely go for an Alexander! x
