Re: How much has it cost you?
well I have a load of duna funs and they were all £45 each I have a few gabbers, a few bin's (but after the tools they aren’t that cheap). I have rodies and a few really big rotastaks. the wheels are mainly SS's and ufo spinners which a few wodent wheel though in the next few years I'm planning on doing an adoption centre for rodents (the only one in mies) and then everything will have to be in bulk. errm I have wodent wheels, housing; some hamsters love to chew and you don't find out till they start so it costs you more. the constant amount of sand is a lot and the Harry hamster mix is with added stuff, then baby food and eggs (two eggs a week atm will grow as more arrive). tofu fruit and veg ( which may not sound much but as I try and get local veg it is also I'm one of those people who get there five a day which leaves little).
the vets is the worst, robos don't often get ill but with tifa it has cost me loads, always buying eye drops and things that boost her immune system.
I buy wooden logs to encourage then to chew and wear down nails.
the initial cost is a lot you need the money for everything, I've even got a vet fund, a water bottle fund, and food fund.
I know you said cage setups, but to me this is. if you don't have most things ready from the start it costs more later on, with inflation and everything.

Re: How much has it cost you?
Sorry to dig up an old post, but I was interested to write mine down and see what it comes to!
In the last 3 months that I have had Syrian Little Mo, I've bought the following:
Peggy Metro cage (when I bought Mo) = £40
Ferplast Duna Maxi cage = £40
Chew cube = £3
Wooden playsticks = £3
Play ball = £3
Corn Play tunel = £4
Silent spinner wheel = £6.50
Log cabin house (off ebay but was to small!) = £6
Another Log cabin house = £6
Coconut house (her sand bath) = £3
hanging ladder climbing frame = £7
Hanging fabric house = £3
Puzzle playground = £3
Snuggle Pouch = £3
Wodent Wheel = £10
Discounting all the food and treats that she's had too of course... and more to come i'm sure (spoilt little thing :P)

Re: How much has it cost you?
i added this up in the first year or so of hamster owning and it came to £1,500. Yes, that figure is not a typo! I have more cages and wheels since then so it's probably at least £2,500 by now.

Re: How much has it cost you?
I honestly dread to think! I've only had Myfanwy 6 weeks but she's already on her second cage (she turned out to be a bar chewer so I had to move her to a tank ), the first cage ended up costing about £80 (expensive Imac Fantasy from the pet shop plus 2 extensions), plus all her treats and toys. Has to be in the region of £300 already

Re: How much has it cost you?
A lot of money has been spent on my hammies! I'm sure a lot more than necessary but I don't care. I've got so many spare everything's it's ridiculous. In the last 6 months I'm sure I have spent at least $1,500 on cages/accessories/etc, and I'm about to spend another $550 on 6 cages! I really only need 1 or 2 right now, but it was a much better to deal to buy more. So...I'm sure they'll be filled eventually!
