Re: Bin cages - water bottle idea
Thank you for all the additions to this thread! It's great to have a culmination of ideas and I'm sure at least one is doable to anyone struggling with how to have a water bottle in a bin cage as I was.

I actually tried this one out with the stand and a bottle holder with the curved part which fits around the bottle and the two sections on the back (one to go flat against the side of the cage and one thinner one to go between the bars and then fix there after twisting it). I basically forced the two 'sticky up' parts of the stand through the small space between the curved section and the first back section and it worked pretty well, I'll attach a picture! (Sideways again for some reason)

Re: Bin cages - water bottle ideas!
I have to credit this one to Biscotti because I got the idea from her. I've used a wooden hamster tube/toy and mounted it on a platform to make it sit up higher.
I also made my own DIY holder because I wanted something for Smudge's natural themed cage & I didn't like the look of the metal waterbottle holders.

Re: Bin cages - water bottle ideas!
In Carmelita's bin we have:
one bottle where we drilled a hole for the screw and a hole for the spout
one bottle where we drilled a hole for the screw/mounting bar (the bottle itself is therefore inside the bin, but the only hole is behind the bottle bracket so there's no danger of her enlarging the hole.
I also got two of these when they were on clearance, just in case/to have as options later.

I bought one of these on clearance also! Got it for $1.50!!! They usually ran so expensive that I never forked out the money for them, but I'm glad to have one now! They are great to have for the playpens too!

I bought this also and it is great!!! It has a weighted base so your hams can't knock it over. I'm thrilled with it because I needed it for the playpen. I have the hamster Hide and Seek cubes and they can also be used to hold a water bottle. But the cube can be chewed, where the ceramic one can't. I bought it from Petco after I saw Kiki's post about it.

Re: Bin cages - water bottle ideas!
saw all the posts about how to attach water bottles. we buy ones that have hook to go over tank but we just save those if we need them. we use the metal hanger that comes with them all. i just drill 2 holes in side and attach the hook. no matter if our syrians try to climb they cant make it. though our cambells male is a huge chewer and chews bottles so he got the oasis bottle that is kid friendly. only bottle he dont destroy yes i mean destroy... plus its vaccume powered.... no leak love it. hers link to it same as before drill hole for holder but use the metal holder or suctions... under $5 at petco in us

Re: Bin cages - water bottle ideas!
I didn't intend for this to be innovative, but I attached a former cage piece to the inside of my bin with drilled holes and zip ties and attached the water bottle to the cage piece. She can also climb up it but hasn't tried so far. I think cubes you buy in stores like what people use for custom guinea pig cages would work too.

Re: Bin cages - water bottle ideas!
I've been looking for a good idea for a bottle holder as I'm looking to make a bin cage!
This has been really helpful thanks (:
