Unhappy Zooplus Order Broken Wheel.

Hello everyone.

Just a bit of a moan really and just checking that I'm doing the right thing.

So Sunday night I did a Zooplus order of a few things for Peachy. Some treats, a bag of Chinchilla sand and that cute little red bench. (I know...it was more for me than it was for her. )

I also ordered the biggest Trixie wheel you can get. The 28cm one as Peachy has now outgrown the smaller one and she somehow managed to rip the wheel off the cage wall of the Alaska hence ruining it now and she won't use it.

So the delivery arrived less than an hour ago, and I was pretty eager to give Peachy her new wheel as she has been making it very clear how angry she is about the lack of wheel in her cage.
So I open the box pull out the wheel and low and behold it looks like this:

To say I'm angry is an understatement. I'm livid. Totally broken right down the middle with sharp edges galore.
I emailed Zooplus and got a really quick response from them, although they have said they cannot send another wheel on its own due to logistic reasons? Anyone ever heard of that?

Anyway, they have refunded my money for the broken wheel but have left it at that.
I don't know whether to laugh or cry.
I need this wheel for obvious reasons as Peachy has no wheel in her cage!

*Sigh*
(I have been getting Peachy out even longer and letting her do marathons in the house and on our secure patio decking outside and she seems to be coping well without the wheel.)

I'm stressing out because of the lack of wheel and have no spare right now. I've tried pet shops to get this wheel but alas they don't have it so I had to use Zooplus.

I don't think there's anything else I can do about it now. I found the wheel on ebay a short time ago and will buy it there and hope for the best.

Sorry for the rant and long post. If you got this far you deserve a medal.

Love and Light.

Hi there Tam!

You are a star!
I guess in my anger I forgot to look at Amazon. I'm so glad they have it there. Thank you so much for your help.

About your Syrian. I'm sure it would be totally fine for you to get the big wheel as I honestly see no point in what I did by getting a small one first and then the big one after that. I see no problem going right for the big one.

But that's just me. I'm sure others will come along and have their opinion on it too.

Love and Light. x

I had the same problem although not with a wheel, it was a 4kg bag of chinchilla sand. They wouldn't send me a new one and just refunded me. I think the reason they sometimes refuse to send stuff back out is if it falls below their minimum order requirements

I had the exact same issue with zooplus refusing to send me an item on its own as well (except in my case they originally decided to send me dog treats instead of the hamster house I'd ordered...)
Still annoyed they think its ok to refuse to send replacements to be honest - it was definetly their mistake in my case and the house was zooplus exclusive.

Starting a young ham with a bigger wheel is fine - Muddle got an 11" wheel from the start (he actually only got given it last week lol)

Can't you just take the broken face off and use it as an open wheel?

Pretty shoddy of them not to send a replacement though

Superglue the crack on the front. Superglue is wonderful (but for goodness sake wear a glove because it will glue you to the wheel otherwise!) Poundland sell packs of superglue and it`s handy to have in the house anyway. So even if you need to order this wheel again from Amazon, you could patch this one up to use in the meantime? Superglue dries very fast but give it a good couple of hours to dry properly before use. x

I agree with JBH316, if the crack is just on the black bit you can take that off and use it as an open wheel, at least for the time being.

Whilst I do empathise about your feelings over the fact that Zooplus do not replace but refund where a small item is the issue, the sad fact is that the economy is so bad that businesses have to save where they can and a refund is appropriate legally though not maybe morally. At least they seem to sort out refunds fairly quickly, some companies are not that good at admitting fault at all.

Hello lovelies.

Sorry I disappeared. On temporary internet currently so finding it difficult to get online where I can.

I just want to say a great big thanks to all that have commented. It's muchly appreciated.

In the end I super-glued it back together and tried that but the wheel didn't seem to run smoothly so I took it off altogether and left it as an open wheel.

Peachy has been using it but not as much as I would of thought she was considering she can't be without her wheel. She loves it. When I have heard/seen her in it she is really having to push hard as the wheel is not smooth when running on it and seems to be a constant stop/start motion when she is running. I can't describe it any better than that. I'll try and get a video sometime if I can.

I got my refund and left it at that. Zooplus have been really good to me in the past with all my orders so this was a one-off and they were quick to sort it. Can't complain. Wrote this post in the heat of the moment I think.

Anyway, thanks again and sorry for the delayed reply.

Love and Light. x
