Wink Another hammy for me?

Hi,
Harry's Alaska is due to arrive tomorrow.

I was just wondering if the Ferplast Tris would be suitable for a smaller hammy to live in?
It's got three levels so I know from reading in other threads that two hammys isn't the best idea due to territory.

Which smaller hamster is best living alone?
And will they eat the same as a Syrian?
Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

Ive just looked it up on google and a length of 46cm is far too small for any species of hamster in my opionion. Just beccause dwarf's are small they need plenty of space. I find with my robo's that they use far more of their cage/toys than my syrian does.

You could always keep your eye on ebay, gumtree, market place on the forum here for a bargain. Good cages for dwarfs are zoozone 1 and 2. Ferplast kios. Barney or Alexander on zooplus due to the small bar spacing. Duna multy or maxi multy. All i can think of.

Both my robo's live alone and are perfectly happy. Chinese do best on their own but there are exceptions to this. I think all dwarf's do well on their own given plenty of attention.

My robo's eat pretty much the same as my syrian. Though some species are prone to diabetes so you would have to check this out.

Hope this helped.
Bet your hammy will love the alsaka

What cage is this? It's on eBay for £10.

Thats a mini duna by ferplast. Thats the absolute minimum i would go for a dwarf. Some do really well in them. There are lots of members on here keep dwarfs in a mini duna and i'm sure are really happy. I personally just prefer a tad more space.

Do a search on here of the mini duna. There are tons or reviews and pics

Hmm.
I've got a bin that I made for Harry as a play box but he doesn't like it. That's about 70cm by 50cm. Would that be ok?
What I'm thinking of doing is going to p@h after work every few days and checking the adoption tanks so I'm not 100% what type of hamster I'd be getting, I just know I don't have room for another Alaska for another Syrian.

The bin sounds absolutely perfect .

Saves you money too.

Well done you. My Wilbur is a pah adoption my other two are rescues too. Its so much nicer giving a forever home to a hammy in need. You could always get your local pah's phone number and ring instead of having to pop in every few days.

I'm going to wait until Harry is properly settled in Alaska and make sure that he's happy before I go bringing any more smells in to what has been "his" room.
But hopefully I'll be able to find a fluff in the next few weeks.

Is Harry a syrian hamster? I'm not sure if I'm following currectly, but is your intention to put another hammy in with Harry?
