Whats wrong with me?
I have 4 gorgous hammies but I want some more. To attempt to fix my need I've been buying cages! I have 3 spare at the moment... (an imac, rex/furry life and a pink palace) . Does anyone else have this?

Re: Whats wrong with me?
Noooo of course not
I think it is very common sammysmum, I have lots of spare cages, but having seen some that are a bargain, I bought 10 more to change my guys into, and so I have at least 10 spare Gabber Rexes, plus other various cages too (probably another 6 or 7!)
Do you change your hammies into the new cages and let them have a house change? Thats what we do, and the older cages then become the spares...
I think you may get lots of replies saying people do have lots of spare cages

Re: Whats wrong with me?
oh i have only about 10!
i can't help it. i think ooh that one's a bargain!
The trouble is, if you wait til you need one, you don't see them. when i needed to split my robos, i'd seen tons of rodys and dunas on ebay and could i find one when i needed it? no. Then i bought one from pets at home for £30 and the next day there was one on ebay for a tenner near me. so annoying!

Re: Whats wrong with me?
I bought a Mini Duna today from a carboot. I was looking for an Imac or Rex really but thought as it was so cheap, I'd get it.
I thought it was a Gabber Lux(there were no shelves - the girl had guinea pig in it I think from what she said ) and thought it might be good for when Noodles gets too old for her cage and it was going to be a play pen for her until then.
I spent about 3 hours disinfecting it - I put her in and she immediately started to try and get to the bars(I bought this wooden ledge to go in it but thought it'd be low enough). She worked out how to monkey bar in about 5 mins. Arghh!

Re: Whats wrong with me?
I prefer to have play cages rather than chop and change because I feel no other cage is right for that particular hamster. Sammy loves wired cages so instead of swapping him he is out for most of the night. The dwarves all have play cages! (rotastak and furry life happy world and imac).

Re: Whats wrong with me?
I would, but my parents wont let me! They moan whenever I want to buy any hammy stuff I'm really happy with my zoozone 2s though, so unless I find a wire cage, bigger than 100cm x 50cm, and really cheap, they're staying

Re: Whats wrong with me?
I hope nothing since i feel exactly the same! I am doing everything in my power not to go the petshop - ordering on line, in bulk, thinking up new things to do with my current gang, I have investigated who my old cages can hold.............................................. ...
its what I day dream most about!

Re: Whats wrong with me?
I have 3 spare cages at the moment and another on the way. I prefer to be prepared in case of an emergency where a baby needs it's own cage or one is ill or I need to take in a rescue all of a sudden. But since I keep buying cages I always have room for more hams! Just earlier I was sat in my room Think I could fit another 3 cages on top of those 3, clear that shelf put another one there, I'm hammie mad!

Re: Whats wrong with me?
There’s nothing wrong with getting spare cages
hamster wise i have good self control and plan to a tee when and how i want to expand so i control my urge for more that way
however I am always buying cages and want a cage reserve of twenty of various sizes so I can theoretically house every one of a maximum size Syrian litter individually in case of fights and i want a few smaller cages a s travel cages so I can increase my range show wise as i can have everyone in smaller travel cages(1000 cms roughly) overnight while still retaining good main cages at home well that the theory as there’s no way I could get everyone’s home cages in the car

Re: Whats wrong with me?
'My name is Hanlou and I am a cage-aholic'
.... 'tis true! If I don't actually need a cage I still look at them on ebay etc. But then, my beloved thought I was mad when I bought a Rody Cavia for £9 as it had a small crack in and it's been in use fairly frequently for one thing or another. It's currently awaiting occupants. Possibly Robo's - though I can't decide whether the Duna Fun would be better as it has wheel attaching possibilities that the Rody doesn't.
See, I plan cage layouts when the cages aren't in use etc. I would have got a Gabber Rex 'just in case' but I thought my beloved would notice and err, sort of flip so I thought better of it!
I *love* planning cage layouts. Maybe I'm just sad. * sigh*
