Is a 2 tier iMac fantasy big enough for a Syrian hamster ?
So in the future I was thinking about getting a Syrian hamster, would a two tier iMac fantasy be big enough or would I need to expand it more ? I only want to have an iMac for it as I already have the starter kit for it (base, bars,1level, top) please let me know what you think x

An iMac fantasy isn't a suitable cage for a Syrian. You can't fill the base deep enough for sufficient substrate and it can not fit an appropriate sized wheel without it taking up a whole level! If I were you I'd sell your imac and buy an Alaska from zooplus, it shouldn't cost you any more than buying a new kit to expand. You can sell your imac for around £15 and an extension would cost £25 new, even then it wouldn't big large enough and an Alaska is £39 with a 10% discount for new customers.

Okay thank you so much I wasn't planning to get a Syrian till the end of this year or early next year so I will sell my imac fantasy nearer the time I plan on getting one i looked at the Alaska and I think it looks like a really nice cage so I will probably buy that one when I get a Syrian hamster, thank you for your help also how big does a wheel have to be for a Syrian? Thanks x

My syrian is on the smaller side, and he has an 8 inch wheel. As long as they don't arch their back they should be ok, if not they need a 12inch. The alaska is a good cage and zooplus were really good for quick delivery they have a selection of wheels too.

The Alaska is a lovely cage, as has been said above an 8" is fine in some cases but I'd just say go with an 11" or 12" (28+cm), like the trixie wheel on zooplus. Bigger is better when it comes to wheels, most Syrians end up needing the larger ones in the end. Good luck with selling your imac and getting a Syrian

Re: Is a 2 tier iMac fantasy big enough for a Syrian hamster ?
I think that the Imac in nice to look at but it only suitable for a dwarf hammie as the tubes are narrow and so is the bar spacing. I know that some syrians don't have problem with the tubes but then again I have heard of some that have. Also the cage can only fit a 8" wheel in which can be fine for a syrian but again a large syrian might need a 11". As some one suggested above I wuld sell it and get a zoozone etc xx
