Default Re: Best cage for Robo? (preferably in pink)

Hi I was thinking about your daughter liking pink and it fitting in with her room and had an idea...
How about buying something like a Kios cage or a zoozone one and decorating it? I don't mean with paint as that would be a high risk to the hamster but with stickers and transfers?
The Kios I've ordered has a grey base but I've 2 other hamster cages and a guinea cage in my room & they are a mix of greys and blues, I've got names on & did add some butterfly stickers to the guinea cage as I'd some spare from a pack I'd been using on a mirror. Those were 99p from the Range.
You can get cheap art & craft supplies & your daughter could on the outside stick nice transfers, a name label etc on. Market stalls can be good for wide strips of ribbon but you'd have to make sure the hamster couldn't reach anything added.
Just an idea - I don't know how old your daughter is but I work in a college with teenagers and know some of them have made name labels for their animal cages/hutches - you'd just need to be careful no Sellotape goes where hammy could get to.
Just an idea - might be easier to buy a light grey based cage and add some pink decorations on the outside - would be cheaper than me buying a duna then a few weeks on buying a Kios as I've realised my hamster needs more space

That`s a brilliant idea alisont. Stickers would bring some personalisation to the cage, but at the same time, allow for a decent sized cage for the hamster.

Stickers should only be used on the outside of the cage mind you.

I've got a feeling Yaz Plastikoted a cage base, so that might be an option too. Plastikote is a non toxic hamster-safe paint which comes in loads of colours Amazon.co.uk: Plastikote pink

However, my two robos live happily in a pink ZZ1 so that would be my recommendation. You would need to mesh the top, but you could pink Plastikote the mesh and attach it with pink cable ties if necessary.

You can find it cheaper.

Personally, though, I think a Mini Duna would be OK. My Chinese is content in his.

Oh! Just remembered the Igor Fuchsia, which is a lovely cage if you can make space for it (could you stack it with Daisy's?):

I personally think a pink mini duna or zoozone 1 would be ideal for a single dwarf hamster whichever species you chose. I personally think (in my expierence) robos are a more to watch then handle, but this may be as I have had ones from pet shops that have not been tamed. I love winter whites and chinese, obviously it is completely your choice

Just a thought, but if you really want a robo, if you get one from a breeder it is far more likely to be tame and handleable. my robos are from a breeder, both are lovely and tame, one is so easy to hold, I can pick her straight up no problem, she will sit happily on my knee or hand whilst I stroke her. She is just like a super tiny Syrian.

Also if you really want a pink mini Duna, if you get a pink mini duna off ebay they go really cheap, then buy the Duna fun conversion kit to convert it into a Duna fun, it will give far more space than a mini Duna, but still be pink. Try Emersons Pet Centre for it, their really good at getting stuff in.

I agree about the stickers making the cage look good. My blue zoozone1 has pudsey bear stickers on the clear bit. Think I got them from Greggs last October.
