Default Can I report this ebay Gabber Rex seller?

I was bidding on this:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... :IT&ih=020

I was the only bidder so far at £2.00 (though I had a much higher bid on it) and they've ended the sale early "because the item is no longer available for sale" ....quite obviously a euphemism for "someone offered us a high price Buy It Now"

Private sales are against ebay policy and I'm wondering if I can report them (and the person who's offered to buy it privately - ebay could investigate but probably won't). I'm peed off because how do they know I wasn't prepared to pay more for it?

tut tut, how annoying!

I'd be minded to report it although I doubt it will get you very far, ebay were useless when someone frauded me out of £500 through my paypal account

Hmm sometimes they advertise elsewhere but that should be declared. Or they decided to keep it? Unlikely though, but in my opinion people that email asking them to end early for x amount, the seller deserves to be conned for that because that is what it is a lot of the time.

I would report it!

Mmm not sure on this one Holly. I have been contacted over an item by a buyer who said if you put it on buy it now I will give you so much and pay right now so I guess they might have done that. I did not put it on buy it now in the first place and was glad I did not accept the offer as I got loads more on the bidding!

I'd report it - you've nothing to lose by trying. Its not as if they can lose a Gabber, is it? They may say that they decided to keep it but Ebay should be able to see if they received any messages about it - not sure if they can read them though to see if someone made an offer.

I was watching that cage too, and wasnt very pleased when it ended early

I dont think there is anything you can do though, because the option is there for them to end the item if it is no longer available.

Very annoying!

I was watching it too!

It may have been that it got even more damaged or something, so they had to withdraw it from sale?

Worth an email to ebay if you like though, you have nothing to lose?

Thats the joy of eBay for you

Looking at her feedback she has a slightly dubious record of selling things in less than perfect condition. I'd put it down to one of those things, why waste precious hours filling out forms complaining, they never do anything.

I have had this several times as well and have done so once as it was a brilliant price for something which really wasn't worth what it was they were offering

I have had many problems with sellers not telling the truth and reported loads of things and ebay never actually does anything - even if they say that they are! It really isn't worth spending the time messing about reporting it.

I have emailed her asking what's happened to it - the thing is she knew I was very interested because I'm the one who emailed her asking her if she'd post it (when it was first listed it was listed as collection only). That makes me even more irrtated.

I've sold a lot of stuff on ebay and if people ask me to end early I always say no as it's a) unfair on anyone else watching or bidding and b) against ebay rules. The only thing I would do is add a BIN price (openly so everyone has a chance) to an item that doesn't already have bidders. She hasn't done this, she's sold it privately when there's already someone bidding. Grrrr

Also there was a Cambridge in Sheffield that I didn't bid on purely because I was trying for this one. It went for just ten quid and Will's dad was picking it up for me - and I didn't bid 'cos I decided to go for this Gabber which now doesn't exist. Double grrrrr
