Default Chew proof cage

I have a hamster who seems to think it is a gerbil!! Tilly was in a mini duna just while I sorted out getting her a bigger cage. She chewed through two of these and has since chewed through the base of a 'barred' cage, I currently have to house her in the bath as I have nowhere for her to go!

I am a bit scared to get her the cage I had in mind incase she chews that - I really cant afford to have to keep replacing cages.

She has lots of toys, chews and playthings and get out daily for a run.

Any ideas on what to do or for a cage that it chewproof?

How about a glass tank? You can either make a lid for a normal fishtank or get ones made specifically for rodents. The perfecto ones are lovely, but can be a bit pricey (although not as expensive as constantly replacing cages). They sell them in pets at home and a few of the local petshops where I live.

a tank would be chew proof - or any of the critter cages

I saw a cage on the forum the other day - dont know who posted it, but the wire for the bars went down, into the plastic base - I dont know whether that would help?

My dark grey from Nooboo is the most destructive hamster - he's in a perfecto and cant do too much damage, though Ive had to block off the plastic vent, and he is still chewing the sealant inside the cage!

I'll try to find the post re the wire cage.

A glass tank sounds like the best option.

I'd go with the critter for a syrian, and a tank for a dwarfie..

i forgot to say the critter has a metal base

i use a critter 1 for one of my syrians and she loves the space it gives her, im tempted to buy her the critter 2 or 3 soon

Those Critter cages look really interesting - and what a price for a cage that size - wow!

Can they get their noses through the mesh squares to bar chew? I've got my fair share of plastic/bar chewers - at the moment Minnie (hopefully 6 days pregnant) is attempting to chew her way out of her Gabber which is a total nightmare (thought I wouldn't be able to put her into a Critter cage with a litter coming).

Is the floor mesh too on the critter cages? That would worry me a little, to be honest.
