Although this doesn't directly answer your question, the wheels that rotate on a central spindle often squeak because of the contact between spindle and wheel.

We always used to put a small strip of electrical insulating tape on the spindle after having removed the wheel - it removes the friction that causes the squeaking.

Only try it if the wheel can be *easily* removed or you may break it trying to get it off.

silent spinners are quiet Joe14, and quite a few of my hamsters use them and love them.
A couple of my larger ladies tend to prefer a Wodent wheel, and again these are very quiet.

silent spinners come with a stand or can be fixed to the cage bars, wodent wheels have an inbuilt stand which you cannot remove.

Have you tried putting a tiny amount of vegetable oil on the yellow spindle of your jumbo roly and letting it seep through the centre though? This may solve your problems for a while! (not too much oil though, or you may have a very greasy looking hamster!)

the wheel is not squeeking its grazing along the cage bars as zuke weighs it into them so i have to high it up with woodshavings so it doesnt get weighed into the bars and scrape along them hard to describe I wonder if mine is just faulty
Spud's mum - what size silent spinners do you use? I think 6.5 will be too small for him, but dont know if large one will fit in an imac : :/

I do use 6.5 Joe14, but if zuke is a 'biggie' then they may be a little small. All my average sized hamsters can manage fine in the 6.5 though!

The comfort wheels are very good, they're MUCH sturdier then the rollys! I know what you mean about the rolly banging against the side of the cage, and the only thing i can think of is to get a stand for it. The comfort wheels are also a little bigger then the rollys too.

All of the ones I have are quiet, and I've got 2 8" ones, and a small one for my robo boy.
