Default Meshing a Zoozone

Hi,

After scouring the internet for weeks, I've managed to find a Zoozone for one of my hammies to move into (not sure who yet, might make them race for it...jks).

However it needs meshing over the top, and I've no idea where to start. What size mesh to do I need? and where do I get that from? and how much do I need? And How do I cut it? How do I attach it? Essentially, If someone just could give me a recipe I'd be sorted!

Ta!

If you look through Arraminta's thread on Zoozone 2 adaptations, theres some pictures I've put of how I meshed a ZZ2 - not the same as a ZZ1, I know but it will give you some hints & if you do a google search on meshing a zoozone, it comes up with various threads on here of how people have meshed ZZ1s.

Posting from my phone, so I can't do links!

Thanks Willow's Mummy I did much better when I looked on my laptop instead of my phone.

Just one question remaining really, is it better to mesh over the top of the bars (so the mesh in on the outside) or underneath (so it's inside)?

Thanks!

I've always done it on top, although it doesn't really matter. I guess it's more natural if it rests on top of the zoozone bars rather than kind of hanging.. but it doesn' tmake any odds. unless you use so few cable ties that the hamster chews, resulting in the whole mesh sheet crashing down..egh got me paranoid..

No problem!

As you're meshing a ZZ1, rather than ZZ2 and it has the curved top (I hope I've got that right!), I'd mesh on the outside or you'll have to use quite a few more cable ties to get it to fit to the shape of the lid. The other advantage is that you'll be able to fix the metal clips for hanging toys on properly.

Unless you have a looney chewing hamster like my Willow... In which case, use 6mm mesh from Wickes & mesh on the inside... Invest in many cable ties as you'll have to attach all hanging toys with them although your hamster will then chew through those & you'll have to take her suspension bridge out before she has a nasty fall - crazy ham!

It's a ZZ2 with a flat roof. I've done it on top and it seems to have worked pretty well. Cut my hands to shreds in the process though!
