Default Has anyone got the Qute hamster cage-is it anygood?

Have seen a lot of advertisements for these Qute Easy Clean Hamster cages-are these any good-heard the platform is wire though so may not be so good-dont they do a Qute cage that has a solid platform?

What about wheels-can you fit a jumbo size wheel in this cage?

Please don't buy this cage!! It is tiny, very expensive (£120), has a dangerous wire level and a stupid vertical tube!

It isn't suitable for any species of hamster in my opinion.

I agree with what Charley101 says, it's designed to look good, it's not practical or suitable to house a hammy in in my opinion

I'm lazy so I'm not going to write down my opinion on this cage, instead I'm going to quote what I said about it from this thread - The 'Qute' ???

Quote:
Lol the advert for it is in the sidebar for me right now -.-

I hate that cage for many reasons and the biggest being that it could be an amazing cage if it was actually big enough! They don't even give you the proper cage measurements as it includes the wooden frame so the actual cage is less than 48x37cm and the hight of each section is less than 32cm!!! Way less than the minimum size for even a single dwarf hamster yet they are apparently fine for Syrians!

Apart from being tiny the top section has barred floors which of course mean the high risk of bumblefoot.

The two sections are barely tall enough for even an 8" wheel let alone the 11" wheel most Syrians require.

The tunnel in the middle is horrible for so many reasons.
1. It's in the way, they need it to be off to one corner so that you can fit toys in.
2. Being vertical it poses the danger of falling and a Syrian would easily out grow the circumference and get stuck.
3. Again because its vertical it means that none of the dwarf species can actually climb up it.
Their main aim with that tunnel seems to be that you can slide it up, 'trap' the hamster in the top of the cage and clean out the bottom. They could have achieved this much more easily and safely by having a ramp that you could fold up and clip into place so that you can clean out the bottom. Then make the top floor solid, so you could also 'trap' the ham in the bottom section to clean out the top.

Cages that look like furniture are so popular now but the difference between the home-made ones and this is that we actually focus more on the cage being suitable as first priority but they stress how "great it looks" and barely mention how it is a suitable environment... which of course it isn't, this cage could have been amazing but they have made it a real disappointment. Its also waaaaay too expensive for what it is (a piece of rubbish).

I would willingly pay that the £119 they ask for it if they made appropriate changes -
1. Make two size versions, 70x40cm and 100x55cm (LxW) and each section to be 50cm tall so that you could fit an 11" wheel with stand in.
2. Change that tunnel to be a good quality ramp.
3. Made the top floor out of a solid material.
4. Make the door clip less flimsy -.-

Anywho I'm sorry this was such a rant but this company disgust me by trying to further the delusion that Hamsters are some kind of toy and can be treated like a piece of furniture. This has clearly been aimed at parents to buy for their kids because it will look nice in the bedrooms and is small enough to 'tuck away' which is just revolting. They aren't kids toys -.-
basically don't bother with it, its useless, unsuitable and a waste of money

This cage seems to be designed more for it to fit in as furniture and not really considering much of what a hamster needs. The tube is vertical, the platforms are wire and it is also very expensive compared to cages you can get that more than suit the needs of a hamster.
Quote from the website, if I'm allowed to do so, 'Fits in with your home' which does prove somewhat of a point.
