Talking "New" aquarium

Got a "hand me down" aquarium with a cover from my friend and took a whole evening tonight to make it pretty It used to be used for a university fish lab and the back and sides were covered in black paint. The paint was scraped off, but not all of it. I cleaned it all up and painted to match my red IKEA Expedit case exactly, including its mesh cover. Also added the same woody background to it that I put on my Expedit cages.

It's going to go on top of the case, and I'm not sure who'll go there yet... I'm thinking of upgrading Izzie to it and moving Leela to Izzie's home, which is nearly identical to her Billy cage in size, even slightly bigger (so the set up should be the same).

I was going to keep it in storage in case my boys fall out, but so far there's no sign of that, and I hate seeing larger cages standing empty when I have hams who could be upgraded It's 36" x 18" (91cm x 47cm)

Yup! It is. Same as one I already have where Dora lives.

I was going to keep it empty for Max in case he needed to be separated, but after some thought (I've been considering giving Izzie more room as she's become quite extroverted), I moved Izzie in. I kept her set up exactly the same, just spaced out, didn't wash her toys, and added just one extra small tunnel. Even mixed half of her old bedding with the new. She was just not in the right mood for a move though, as she's having such a tough time with Baytril doses, which she hates I'm sure she'll appreciate it after tomorrow more, as her Baytril course stops then.

You have done a good job there in cleaning it up. I think it would make a lovely home for Izzie.. Looking forward to her house warming party pictures

Thank you. Here are a couple of quick snaps of the aquarium and the set up (top right). Forgot to add that I gave Izzie a flying saucer wheel too, which she'd never used before and had some awkward time trying out last night

That looks great! I only have 20 gal long tanks and I keep looking for a 30 gal tank but no luck yet. You've given me some great ideas for when I find one though!

Thank you. I'll see how she does in this aquarium. If she doesn't like it, I'll move her back to the Expedit, as I think she's grown to like the sliding doors at the front. I can always store the aquarium for later separations.
