Default cage recommendations please

We have bought two cages for our new arrivals (tomorrow). The second cage is way smaller than the first one and it really will be a temporary measure as we need to get bigger cages. I'm not 100% happy with the Rotastak one even though it is bigger than the other one, it seems to be flimsy. For example, we only have to take the top off to clean and the clips that hold it together are very liable to come off and the whole thing falls apart. I really don't want to be worrying about that everytime we clean the thing.

So, I really need some recommendations as to what cages to get for 2 syrian hamsters. We don't have a very big house so we will have to rule out mansions

Thanks.

A zoozone 1/gabber rex/duna multy (all about 70x40 cm) is the minimum you want to go for a syrian really, It sounds big but they fit well on top of chests of drawers.

I can't seem to think of any 70x40 barred cages (except the kios, which is too short for a syrian sized wheel) but there probably are some out there.

Good idea to replace the rotostak though, they're notoriously hard to clean and make it harder to tame a hamster (because they retreat into the tunnels) and I have heard a lot of escape stories!

Yeah, rotastak can work but it needs to be attatched to something else anyway and can't have any wheel bigger than the nearly-8" savic rolly (and that only just squeezes into the triangular units), which our syrian outgrew within about 2 days of us handing it over because she'd outgrown the rotastak wheels lol
You get used to it but it takes up a lot of space and you may as well just get the "something else" and save a bunch of space.

Er... What about the imac fantasy, preferably with an extension? Its not something I personally like but its the smallest space-wise that I can think of that gets good comments.

A Zoozone 1 or similar sized tank type cage such as katiepillow already suggested are good minimums for syrians.
The only acceptable barred cage that won't take up huge amounts of room are the savic cambridge, cant remember the dimensions of it. Though it is a highly debated topic, some say its ok, some say it is too small. Having seen one I would say it was too small, but I know other people get on OK with it.
Then slightly more space (80cmx40cm) are cages like the ferplast mary, the savic ruffy, the hamster heaven. all approx the same thing. The bigger barred cages are the only ones I have listed that could be stacked and save space potentially, unfortunately the cambridge has a curved roof.
